Caeli Glider
Wings of War
The Caeli Glider is a winged device made of softwood and canvas with a tail to allow it to glide for nearly an hour with minimal steering. Large and bat-like, the glider is large enough to carry one average-sized human along with up to fifty pounds or so of equipment. This would allow the device to not only work as a means of transportation, but also to scout and unleash bombs in times of war.Royal Inventor
Aeliz de Blay was never quite satisfied with her work as an apprentice. From a young age, her intellect far surpassed that of her masters. Her affixation upon avians and flight would inevitably lead to her series of inventions that will perhaps one day grant humans the ability to fly. As her experimentation became more and more expensive, she took to find a patron that could afford to sponsor her pricy projects."She is quite strange, isn't she? Constantly making inappropriate jests and laughing at formal statements?" "Yes, my liege, but she is by far the most brilliant inventor in the entirety of Andrytus. Her achievements pale in comparison to her... unusual mannerisms."The Vassal Calardus Murant, the ruler of the City State of Alcair in the southwest of the High Plains, gave de Blay an offer she couldn't refuse. In exchange for a massive home and studio alongside funding for her projects, she would be required to create the tools of war with the title of Royal Engineer. Without so much as a second thought on the offer, de Blay accepted. She did not realize what little time she would have for her personal projects, yet could not unbind herself from such a contract without facing severe punishment. After finding her creation of a gliding device, he insisted that she test it and get it working, for it would be a near invaluable tool for battle. After the conception of the invention, Murant presented it to the high clerics, suggesting that his son, Caeli Murant, invented such a magnificent object. Within a year, it would become the most commonplace tool for scouts within the Andryte military. Aeliz, infuriated, was forced to bite her tongue as the invention was widely referred to as "The Caeli Glider".- Vassal Calardus Murant to Advisor Gilo Murant
