A long time ago, beyond even the memory of most trees, Gods and Mortals used to coexist. It was a peaceful, prosperous time in the history of our world. That is, until the God of Chaos whispered into the heart of humanity and war threatened to break out upon the mortal plane. The Gods retreated, and yet the four Cardinal Gods - Azora, Fiore, Astreaus, and Maelee - still believed in the potential of humans and magic and therefore created a place where they could prove their theory: the Primordal Plane.   Many years later, The God of Chaos is steadily regaining his prior glory and has his eyes set on the peaceful world of Primordal, a place he's been too weak to reach. Things have been set in motion and the four realms of Primordal are in danger. The Gods, unable to step in, must select emissaries to act on their behalf before it's too late...   Marianna Fountaine was never one for fate: she preferred to live in science and research; provable facts upon which to base her life. This need for information is what made her the best fact checker in the city, but when she's whisked away on an unbelievable adventure she has to decide what's more important to her: keeping her mind focused on the facts or opening her heart to the unknown.
