Queen Asena Vulandor is the eldest child of Maedon Vulandor and Ingemaria Vulandor, granddaughter of Alyaana Vulandor, and sister to Lady Sarena Vulandor. Asena became Queen Consort through her marriage to King Magnusson Nevantine. She is mother to Rhagnareon Nevantine and Daryana Nevantine. When Jaenus invaded Raintandarm and killed her husband to usurp the throne, Asena lost her title as queen and with her children, fleed from the kingdom to avoid assassination.

BIOGRAPHY

Early Life

Asena was born into one of Raintandarm's oldest noble families, House Vulandor. She was raised in Sumarfeld, a province located in the north-eastern part of Raintandarm and also House Vulandor's ancestral land. Her mother, Ingemaria, was finally able to conceive a child after a couple of years of complications. She was born a few days before spring and in the middle of the night. Thus, the inspiration for her name.

Asena spent most of her childhood in Somarhane Castle. As a child, she was energetic and considered 'wild' by some of the servants. She would run around the castle while lifting her dress and isn't afraid to stain her them with mud. She chose to play with the horses and ride out into the fields than practice embroidery with the maids. Unlike her younger sister, Sarena, who was more delicate and feminine, Asena was usually seen to be more brash and impulsive.

Asena has always been fascinated by the battle-maidens within her ancestral line. When she saw the Vulandor's ancestral weapon, Nightshade, cased in a glass box, Asena remembers her grandmother, Alyaana, who used to wield it when she was alive. She would go outside to find broken twigs and pretended it to be a sword. Her mother, Ingemaria, realizing she was serious about learning, she convinced Maedon to hire a swordmaster. Which eventually, he did. Although, she can maintain her girl image whenever her family have guests coming to their house. Silver Warrior and Becoming Queen Consort

By the age of eighteen, Asena's sword-trainer deemed her to be an excellent fighter. However, at the same time, her father had already begun to arrange suitors for her to marry. Displeased, Asena would argue many times with him. Trying to escape the pressures given by Maedon, Asena overheard the servants talking about the upcoming Grand Spring Bout; a tournament held in the early days of spring for the common people who are capable in armed combat. She participated without her parents' knowledge and disguised herself under the alias 'Briseris'. Her consecutive victory for five years earned her the nickname 'Silver Warrior' by the people of the kingdom. Although the winner can be appointed as a royal knight, Asena always chose money as her prize, where she would also secretly donate it to the needy. The king at the time, Magnus, was impressed by the constant victories that he, unknowingly, ordered her to lift up her mask, which Asena hesitantly obliged for she could not disobey the king. When the king discovered her to be a woman, he was enraged, commenting that a fighting pit is not a place for a woman. But Asena, refused to be insulted, introduced her true self. Magnus' son, Magnusson, had the opposite reaction to that of his father. Instead, he admired Asena for her combat skills and her fierceness to the point he asked his father to meet her personally.

APPEARANCE

Asena has the common features seen amongst the Vulandors; dark blonde hair and brown eyes. Her hair is long and wavy, which she tied into braids most of the time. Her eyebrows are thin and sharp and have the same colour as her hair. She has an average height. But unlike most ladies with their slim waist and graceful demeanour, Asena's body is quite built, a result of the sword-fight training she had at a young age. She mostly inherited her mother's looks, though her jaw was of her father's.

PERSONALITY

As a young child, Asena was bold and driven. She had her own special thoughts that many find strange, except her mother. She was not afraid to leave her assorted 'lady' duties to ride horses in the fields outside the castle. Some of her servants consider her to be a 'peculiar' child and had a hard time handling her. Her thoughts and behaviour are often the reason why she clashed with her father, who wished to see both of his daughters grow up to be elegant. She believed she could forge her own destiny, just like her grandmother and the mothers before her.

Swordsmanship

Asena learned to fight with a sword from the age of seven. She continued to train until her teenage years. By the age of seventeen, Asena has mastered the skill and was regarded as an excellent fighter. At that same year, she secretly participated in the Grand Spring Bout, which earned her the nickname The Silver Warrior.

Archery

Asena also practised archery and is also excellent at it. Though she prefers to fight with a sword.
