Nearly 33 years ago the world began to collapse. The "fabric" of reality literally began to shatter for reasons unknown. Starting in various parts of the world simultaneously, the advancing shattered edge began to consume the world.

"Types" of Fractures

The Fracture- Infinitely tall "walls" of fractured reality encase what's left of the world
Rifts - Fractures that act as clear windows to other worlds. These are far smaller than the Edges, and vary in size from roughly a person, to the size of a large building. The Rift revealing the New Moon is the most notable of these. There are rumors of others within the city, but nothing confirmed.

Melt

Melokovic, nicknamed Melt, is a mineral found in the old city mines of Prevnost. First thought to be useless, an inquisitive dwarf discovered it has an intense psychoactive affect if ingested in small doses. Sold as a small brittle stone or a grey powder, Melt, is known to cause sudden warmth and muscle relaxation combined with a brief state of euphoria. Users say it feels like "melting". A surprising side effect of high dosages allow the user to safely traverse through the Fracture. The substance is highly coveted for both of its uses and has led to a huge market for the substance despite the government's attempt to control its use and distribution. The Fiends and Conclave are known to have consistent sources for the substance despite the Nosticar's best efforts.
