The Hunter Blades

Relics from before the great exodus when 23 tribes banded tougher and came down from the hubwords lands. Its said that more exist else where wielded by other groups that existed around that time, apparently made to fight the ancient beasts of the primordial winds.   These days most of them are wielded by the remnants of those original tribes descendants when they go hunting for their families. the lose of one on a hunt is consider a massive stain on the standing and status of a family as they would no long be able to finish off the beasts they hunt, for only the blades can pierce the thick bone growths that the larger beasts have around their hearts. Families that lose their blades tend to try and marry into one of the other families or are forced to only hunt small prey. They sometimes chose the riskier option of going on a quest to retrieve the blade if its location is know or the equally arduous process of appealing to the mansheer to forge them a mansheer crystalbone blade.   The mansheer's Coralbone Blades are not as grand as the Hunter Blades, but do possess the power to get to the heart of the wind beasts. With one a family of hunters is able to keep hunting letting them at lest maintain a diminished status. The trouble is gain one of these from a mansheer nest is a great under taking normally as the mansheer are immensely picky about allowing humans access to their blades and each one is somehow tracked by the mansheer who have been known to appon the death of one they have let borrow a blade, arrive at their families home demanding the return of the blade, and other times they let the families keep the blades indefinitely. Some say its cause the mansheer can feel the intentions humans have when they wield the blade.

Purpose

It holds the authority of the hunter clan it belongs to, they are each different but hold a power that through unknown means impresses the wielders will on people. the mansheer are unaffected by this power.
