Transcripted Account of Gauce Featherweight

"I jus wan' ta say thank ye for meeting me today Gauce."

"Only because you offered some time, and healing our sick Welpa, but go ahead, ask your questions."

"O' course, I 'ave too many ta speak with today, straight ta business. Firstly, tell me 'ow Gwilith fared in tha consumption."

"Dangerous question to ask of course. After the consumption, most of our people forgot many things. Where we came from, some would have guessed that Aerilum did not originally come from before the consumption, but from our oral traditions, we determined that to be true at the very least. Many from the The Pondarac Pantheon we guarantee tried to fight the Kainga even, but were lost to history itself, so there is not much to say about that."

"Sorry ta Interrupt Gauce, but did you ever see it?"

"See what?"

"Tha Kainga? "

"No, I remember tidbits about the viliage, but im sure such a monstrous creature could never leave my eyes if I did see it. I do remember that one of the other viliagers saw a peek at it. Said it had a long tail, and six legs, but I dont remember what else they said."

"Do ya remember the name of the viliager?"

"No... No I dont... I always suspected that she was devoured."

"But ya sure twas a she?"

"It might have been... I don't remember."

"Moving on than. The village after tha attack."

"Of course... So the village was in ruins, trees felled, and what little stone towers we had completely gone, replaced with an empty pit in the middle of a grove of trees. After wracking our brains together, we found it must have been the library, because it ate, killed, than left. We never knew how many we had lost trying to destroy that thing."

"But after tha attack."

"Oh... right... sorry. We started rebuilding and because we had some... small memories of the materials of the woods, and the help of the druids nearby, we were able to rebuild within about five years, save for the lost manpower. To help for this, we left the woods, going south, to the The Endless Hills where humans were just... scattered like flies. Crime everywhere, and too many were starving."

"Is tha how ya picked up bakin Gauce?"

"Oh no, I've baked since long before the consumption, making rations and the like, but we didn't have the wheat and grain to help out, thats why we left the woods in the first place, for supplies we couldn't quite get."

"Ahh, thank ye. Please, move on."

"Yes. So we spent ten years going around, teaching humans how to hunt, and eventually how to grow crops, which we also recived some help from the halflings of the south, who helped spread agriculture to the masses, and that was a considerable help. By year 50, just about any fertile land near the river was prepped for usage, and everyone benefited."

"I recall tha' at year 50 was tha start O' tha Kingdom of Steisen itself, with the engravin O' the wall. Twas a golden time."

"Aren't you interviewing me about the past, not the other way around?"

"By Olänn I be sorry. Forgive my rudeness and move on will ye?"

"Of course Welpa. So, its been thirty years since than, and quite a few organizations have cropped up to help spread the grain from the hills to the forests and mountains. For the fruits and fungus from Gwilith to the scarce tribes of humans and to Steisen and from Steisen..."

"We sent metals ta 'elp make tha tools to work tha land! All dwarves know the deal."

"Of course, and thats what leads us to today, where now, according to some rumors I heard, dragons are said to be flying around all over the Mioiarann Mountains , looking for gold."

"Ye be right there Gauce... ye be right ta say tha least in tha... Just like tha ring on yer finger."

"Oh... this thing? I've had it longer than I can remember, but I couldn't bear to give it away. Its as much of a promise as it is a genuine keepsake for these over 80 years I've been wearing it."

"Aye, it be a beautiful thing, treasure it, and remember always with it."

Note: Not wishing rudeness upon my patron, I did not inform him of the dwarf and elven crastmanship of his ring. Though he cannot remember the past, a dwarf remembers the metal, and If Olänn has any power in doing so, I pray for him to bring forth the memory of his wife again, so she may not lie among the forgotten.
