Storm Rest Monument Addition

Storm Rest Monument is a monument dedicated to the citizens of the town of Storm Rest that died when the dam up river from the city broke and washed away roughly a third of the town. All of the docks, every building on the water front, and all of the people working, living or, relaxing there were washed away in an instant. Most of the structures and boats were smashed to matchsticks, The majority of victims bodies were never found. This disaster effectively changed to course of the river and now flows over the lower parts of the city that it removed. The rest of the town was left in a state of shock and many having lost friends and family simply left town. Storm Rest nearly became a ghost town, a tragic foot note in history over the next several month. This changed when a wealthy artist named Aubrey Timms returned to his home town after having been abroad to study. After hearing what had happened and seeing first hand the damaged caused both to his town and the moral of its residence, he took it upon himself to create a monument the likes of which the world had never seen.   He designed and planed a monument to the town and those lost in the flood. His design recreated the silhouette of the cities waterfront out of individual stone markers situated at varying distances and stuck in the river over the now submerged waterfront. He used individual stones to represent each of the people lost that day each engraved with the name of the person they stand for. All of these named stones are centered around a larger one dedicated to the travelers and others who died with names unknown. The stones are situated in such a way that when viewed from the city center over looking the river forced perspective causes the viewer to see what the water front once looked like before it was washed away.   Whenever the name of someone that died that day is discovered a new stone post is added dedicated with their name in a somber ceremony of recognition to the newly identified. These dedications have become fewer and fewer but even years after the event travelers occasionally turn up with a descriptions of missing loved ones to see if maybe Storm Rest was where they met their end that fateful day.   Do to the scope of the project and dedication with which Timms worked it galvanized the resolve of the remaining citizens to stay in their town and prevent it from fading into obscurity. With this monument the town has rediscovered its soul and with that has begun to prosper once more.
