Tani

The Tani were a species of cockroach like humanoids originating from an ecological disaster on Tzak-Kul. They shared their planet with the Fedulov.

Anatomy

The Tani have the advantage of being bipedal, which allows them use of four "arms". Tani typically have a difficult time verbally communicating with other species due to their underdeveloped vocal chords. Tani who speak Terran are vastly the outlier, and they prefer to communicate with other tani via pheromones.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Tani originated from a disastrous bioengineering experiment on Tzak-Kul. The experiment released mutagenic gas into the atmosphere, killing most eukaryotes. Only insects and plants survived of the eukaryote domain. Mutated photosynthetic prokaryotes increased the oxygen content of the atmosphere to dangerous levels. Many insectoid races mutated to be significantly larger to take advantage of the increased oxygenation.
