The Sword of Lan Sirnen

The sword of Lan Sirnen is a powerful and mysterious sword that has been around for longer than anyone, even the most ancient of dragons, can remember.   Simply holding the hilt imparts knowledge of its use into the mind of the wielder; and wielding it is a unique experience. Using the weapon is extraordinarily easy; anyone who picks the sword up instantly counts as proficient with it in whatever form it takes. Normally just appearing as a hilt, the sword's blade is made up of a strange, softly-glowing blue-white transparent material. It can adjust itself to any sword or dagger shape the wielder desires from a small dagger all the way up to a massive claymore and from as straight as a rapier to the curvatures of a scimitar or khopesh.   In addition, the blade can cut or pierce through anything without dulling or breaking if sufficient force is applied. It's not like a lightsaber where it will effortlessly slice through anything, but the blade is (as far as anyone can tell) completely indestructible and always razor-sharp.   The sword has had many wielders over the centuries. It has been carried by heroes and villains, nobles and criminals, liberators and tyrants. It has been enchanted numerous times and in numerous ways, but it seems to shed any magic that's been added to it when it is claimed by a new wielder. The sword shows up in a number of legends and art pieces, though its current whereabouts are unknown. The last wielder was the great troll warrior Lorvinus, but Lorvinus hasn't been seen for over 60 years and is presumed dead.
