Moronoro, the Great Moon
Moronoro is one of two moons orbiting Plavithen. It is responsible for most of the tides, and it provides some nighttime illumination via reflected sunlight just like countless other moons the universe over.
Moronoro is also hiding a few important secrets.
It is home to an advanced AI manufacturing facility, and the AI in charge of it, AUGUSTINE, has been watching Plavithen for millennia and slowly building an army.
Geography
Moronoro is a typical terrestrial moon. It has no atmosphere and is essentially a cold rock drifting through space. Centuries of mining and manufacturing on the part of AUGUSTINE has left large sections of it honeycombed with mining tunnels and underground structures, but nowhere near enough so to make any meaningful difference in the moon's mass.
AUGUSTINE has built four separate facilities on Moronoro - its own housing, which is essentially a large underground data center powered by solar panels and a nuclear reactor. The second is a sprawling mining complex that extracts materials that are processed by the third facility, an enormous automated factory, and the final facility is a storage facility and launching platform. It has been biding its time, waiting for the threat to return and building forces for that day's inevitable arrival.
Natural Resources
Moronoro is a veritable treasure trove of mineral resources, including nuclear material. It also includes significant concentrations of helium-3, and a surprising amount of water (mostly ice except in AUGUSTINE's facilities) thanks to some meteor strikes.
History
AUGUSTINE was constructed as a commercial mining facility before the war that ended the planet's first age, and it was upgraded during the war from a simple automated system to a true AI. After the war ended and the world collapsed into darkness, AUGUSTINE did its best to aid the survivors on the ground, but lacked the means to do anything truly useful, stranded as it was on the moon.
