Planescape

Everything revolves around the capital of the name Bastion, being the last line of resistance against the relentless assault of the world. Situated at the epicenter of Planescape. Although it may seem at first that in such a scenario Bastion would be in constant disrepair and poverty. The opposite is the case. It is a large city covered by a powerful barrier warding off any assault. The people there have adjusted to living without ever setting foot into the outside world.   This has been possible due to the act of summoning. A ritual where beings with great potential for power are brought to become the cities fighting force. Not without great benefit to those summoned of course. Many benefits and privileges are attributed to the distinguished. Many of which grow old to become the rulers of this very place.   The society has adapted into using every possible element of the monsters slain with the whole economy revolving around the trade of rare materials and crafting.   Little is known of the outside world except for a select few, courageous enough to travel that far and come back. Though they don't seem to be quite keen on sharing what they find upon their return. Rumours of large gateways that link to other planes of existence circulate amongst those living in Bastion, though the guards are quick to try and silence any conversation of such. Much is obfuscated or seemingly erased from this world's history, only the process of summoning seems to be maintained.
