Kastonkeep

Kastonkeep or Bantey'kast in local dialect is a fortified city on the mouth of the inner Brinesea. It straddles the mouth with settlements on either side, the eastern half is firmly under the authority of Rabana, where as the western is a more loosely organized settlement under the guidance of several imperial trade companies who swear fealty to Rabana. Historically the western and eastern settlements have been under separate rulers and found themselves counterpoised in a long history of wars and intercity conflict. It was only reccently within the past couple centuries that the entirety of Kastonkeep has been maintained under a single authority.
The founding of Kastonkeep dates back to ancient times, with historical records tracing its origins to a diverse group of settlers. According to local legends, the eastern settlement was founded by a legendary warrior named Kasar, who sought to establish a powerful and secure bastion to protect the eastern lands from invasions. The western settlement, on the other hand, is said to have been established by a group of enterprising merchants who recognized the economic potential of the region. Throughout its history, Kastonkeep has experienced a series of conflicts and wars between the eastern and western settlements. These rival factions were often led by separate rulers who sought to assert their dominance over the city and gain control of its lucrative trade routes. The conflicts were marked by battles for control over key resources, territorial disputes, and struggles for political influence.
However, in more recent centuries, a shift occurred, and the entirety of Kastonkeep came under the authority of a single governing body. The consolidation of power and the establishment of a unified administration brought stability and economic prosperity to the city. Rabana, with its stronghold in the eastern half, emerged as the dominant faction, managing to exert imperial control over the western settlement and the once independent trade companies operating there.
Factions

The Roketay Dynasty: The ruling family of Kastonkeep, they have held power over the eastern settlement for generations, and their authority extends over the entire city. Although they ultimately answer to the Seogsa (powerful demigods who rule Rabana's empire)
The Sedefkar Trading Company: One of the prominent imperial trade companies based in the western settlement. The Sedefkar family, known for their shrewd business acumen, leads this powerful faction.
The Gurzabas Guild: A merchant guild that controls the majority of maritime trade activities in Kastonkeep. They operate from both the eastern and western settlements, leveraging their influence for economic gain.
The Kılıçbey Warriors: A warrior order from the eastern settlement, renowned for their skill in combat and unwavering loyalty to the Roketay Dynasty. They serve as the personal guard of the ruling family.
The İpekci Scholars: A group of intellectuals and scholars who reside primarily in the western settlement. They are renowned for their pursuit of knowledge and their role as advisors to the imperial trade companies.
These factions, among others, shape the political landscape of Kastonkeep, each vying for power, wealth, and influence in the city's intricate web of commerce and politics.
