Dream Cake

For Wordsmiths, a Star Rite is the most important type of ceremony. Wordsmiths are exclusively Largers, and legend says that their ability to create with word and image comes from them being born from the world's dreams. In order to earn the right to continue learning, create specific types of Edas, and eventually for the right to Teach, a Larger must go through a Star Right.
The most important component of this Ritual is the Dream Cake. A Dream Cake is a dense, sweet, and moist cake that fits in the wide palm of a Larger's left hand. This cake is made by a team of Smallers, as the majority of the ingredients will dissolve to dust when touched by a Larger. This cake is packed with healing herbs, minerals, and magics and must be made with ingredients that correspond to the star that the Larger is receving. Prior to the ritual, the Larger receiving the star must travel to gather ingredients and assistance.
The Rite of the First Star is often the hardest, as an Apprentice is only informed of the Star they are eligible to earn and must discover the ingredients themselves. While the Apprentice has the skill to get their star, they must prove their temperament is humble enough to responsibly handle such power.
Smallers will often hold the fate of the Larger in their hands. When a Larger forms a bond with a smaller or group of smallers, these Smallers will often go out of their way to ensure that after the ritual, the Dream Cake will keep them comfortable for as long as possible, with a lack of pain, sweet dreams, and good health upon waking. Accidents and sabotage can happen, however. Largers who are arrogant and abusive may find their cakes to induce negative dreams, a paralytic that keeps them awake during healing, or permenant damage to their health.
It's rare that a team of Smallers will encounter consequences for these actions--Accidental cases of poisoning are easy to tell apart from purposeful sabotage by the actions taken after. When Accidental posioning occurs, the Smaller team rushes to correct the issue. Sabotage is met with a smaller just watching them suffer.
