I want to woo the person of my dreams. In your world, how do I go about this?

Girl Meets Girl

It's a tale spoken about, shared, and relived over and over again going as far back as the historians of the age can remember. Women meeting other women in their youth, reminiscing about how they met, but most importantly, the sacred tradition by which ladies choose their lovers. In a world that was completely devoid of men, or the concept of them, women of this ancient world chose their lovers in one very specific way.

The Tradition

It was quite common for women to find their lifelong partners during their teenage year. But the only way for a woman to profess her love for another, and propose this lifelong partnership, was to place her beloved's favorite flower atop her left ear lobe. A woman could choose as many partners as she liked, as long as the tradition was strictly adhered to. If she placed the wrong flower, it would be immediately removed from where it sat, thrown onto the ground and stomped on, regardless of how the two women actually felt for each other. Women who guessed wrong would be able to try again with another woman, but never the same woman, as long as she lived. But if she placed the correct flower, the two would be paired off together for the rest of their lives, again regardless of how the two women felt for each other. This was the way it had been since the dawn of their society, and would continue to be into the great beyond of infinite time.

The Livelihood

Among this great big city of pyramids, rustic-looking huts, and sandstone houses, there were cobblestone streets where people walked and among these streets a great many merchants who only supplied one kind of flower. Indeed these merchants would often grow them in abundance, but without exchange of any currency. It was the way things had been for a long time, and what good was currency standing in the way of potential romantic bonds? But it was adherence of the tradition as well, that motivated women to operate and run these mercantile shops. Where it became tricky however was the season in which a given flower grew, whether they naturally grew in abundance or rarity. It was the supply of mother nature that not only stood the test of time, but was determinate too in how love would spring about.

The Result

A great deal of people, lived in peace and harmony. Most were happy with the partners who had chosen them, and with the partners they had chosen. Of course not all was perfect, some women were essentially forced into lifelong partnership with women they didn't like at first, but later came to find some fondness in. Some truly amorous women, who would've done anything for the other, were forever forced apart because of a wrong guess at the seed. But none rebelled, in fact, they all mostly thought it to be a small price to pay for the sake of finding love, and love for all.
