Kara Teadrinker - Monster Hunter Matriarch

The hauflin Kara Teadrinker is considered one of the leading experts in monsters and the paranormal in Pinegaard. She owns Teadrinker manor and the surrounding acres. Monster hunters and investigators from all over Pinegaard, and the fey courts, see Kara as a leader and come to her for advice and resources to help fight evil in their lands.
Kara grew up in Shadowbranch, working at the Hungry Wolf Inn. She met and fell in love with the dhampir-hauflin, Quarlton Teadrinker, who helped rid the Inn of a pesky poltergeist and its necromancer.
Together, with Quarlton’s friend, the dwarf Seymor Archibold, they fought evil monsters and helped others. Kara found she had a knack for casting druidic magic and channeled energy and nature from the land to battle evil spirits.
This partnership came to an end when Seymor betrayed Quarlton, killing him in a ritual to become a vampire. Kara, now a widow with an infant son, vowed to hunt Seymor. Quarlton’s family gave Kara their manor, which included artifacts, tomes, and resources to help her in this quest. Kara’s hunt for Seymor paused as she focused on caring for her son, Talisin.
Kara encouraged Talisin to focus his time on winemaking and business while she turned the Manor into a travel stop to allow travelers to rest. Many who came to Teadrinker Manor were surprised at the different resources and artifacts Kara had in her library. She didn’t charge anyone to look at these items, though she happily accepted donations.
Kara also encouraged visitors to her home to spend money in Shadowbranch to help bolster the community’s revenue. She knew the old Shadowbranch families resented her because of how she came into her wealth, and how they blamed her and her family for the different supernatural occurrences that happened in and around town. She didn’t do it for them, rather she wanted to help the town’s working class.
While her son didn’t take up the family trade of monster hunting, Kara has had several pupils, such as the orc chieftain Vash Felblade, her grandchildren Chazrael Teadrinker and Mabel Teadrinker, her adopted-grandson and dragonkin Duke Teadrinker, and the former boxer-now private investigator Ash Falfaren.
