Caisleán Armories

Caisleán Armories is a Cenaesian multinational defense corporation which develops, manufactures, and maintains military vehicles such as tanks and armored fighting vehicles.

History

Founded in 1892, the company produced various gun carriage for both the Imperial Cenaesian Army and the Imperial Cenaesian Navy, primarily medium field guns to be drawn by a horse or mounted on small patrol craft. The majority of these weapons were standardized in nature and produced on license from the imperial armed forces for them. Operations like this continued, gradually expanding as the Cenaesian Empire did while building a reputation as the finest gunsmithing group outside of the Crown Kingdoms.
As a result of their impeccable reputation, they were invited to bid in the 1902 general purpose infantry rifle which was intended to develop a next-generation infantry rifle, alongside a 1905 competition for more accurate and long range naval gunnery. The company won both competitions, having designed a new rapid firing naval gun capable of engaging newly emerging torpedo boat threats. The rifle had been designed in collaboration with several other firms, with Caisleán Armories lending principal manufacturing and design of the weapon's barrel.
Following the end of the Grand War, the company acquired the newly privatized Cenaesian Auto Company that had been created due to the wartime need of vehicles for logistical needs. This was driven by a legal order delivered by the Crown on the assessment that Caisleán Armories had superior management alongside highly innovative practices. Later revelations however showed that the Crown was concerned about the financial stability of the company, as the post war drawdown of armed forces (particularly land forces) saw a drop in demand for new artillery pieces and Crown Kingdom native companies had taken a marginal lead in innovation. As a result, the crown saw fit to effectively force the company into the newly developing automotive market which would see orders from both the government and increasingly the upper and middle classes of Cenaesia. The move angered larger military corporations and led to an effective blacklisting of the company and it's various weapon designs until action was once more taken by the crown in 1921.
As a result of perceived anti-trust actions by other firms (deemed too important for imperial defense to bring litigation against), the crown once again directly intervened when it solicited a bid exclusively from Caisleán Armories for a prototype medium tank and offered extensive tax breaks and credits to the now struggling firm.

Notable Designs

Tintreach — The Lightning A1 is (Cenaesian:Tintreach) is the Main battle tank of the Imperial Commonwealth Army of Pillowlandia. The system and its derivatives are fifth-generation tanks built by Caisleán Armories and the platform is intended to serve into the early 2100s with upgrades to address evolving threats. Protection features such as its advanced composite armor, active protection system, and highly networked combat information system allow a high degree of protection at a lower weight than peer platforms. This is especially true in its composite armor, which is said to give equal protection of rolled homogeneous armor at only 43% of the weight.
This is in addition to a 130mm main cannon, which offers enough barrel energy to engage and destory peer and non-peer enemy tanks alike
