The Banyu Guild
Banyu was a great magician who was the most knowledgable of all the Quilatia, those who followed their teachings were blessed with strong reasoning skills and intellect and most used this to pursue great feats of magic. As such this guild is well-know for its extensive libraries with rather strict rules about noise in them. They are also the group to educate all the young residents of the city before they head off into apprenticeship to all of the guilds to find the one they wish to join.
The Banyu guild is very mystical with a seemingly never-ending waterfall falling from the top of the tower which acts as its headquarters in the south of the city, that is the main supply of drinking water for the rest of the cities residents. This is just one show of how the magics taught in the Banyu guild to its members ends up being used to help the populous but as a Banyu guild member will always say, the uses to prestidigitation are almost endless.
Structure
There is a singular grand high magus who helms the guild not through the power of their magic (though usually, the most powerful magus gains this spot anyway) but through their scholarliness. This is decided through general appointing when the old grand high magus died based upon a vote for the member of the guild who has supplied the greatest contributions to the intellectual mission, either through thesis, new magical formulae, or even philosophical poetry.
Otherwise, the members of the guild have various levels in different skills including research, teaching, maintenance of the library facilities, magics, philosophy and debate. All of these roles one is free to switch between but each time one does they must start at the bottom to gain the skills used for these areas
