The Furst Family

The Fursts are one of the most well-known and influential families in the United States. Not only are several of their members adept superheroes, they've also made a name for themselves in the fight for superhuman rights. The family patriarch, Abraham Furst, is credited with starting the movement and is a famous figure in both superhero and civil rights history. Three generations of the Furst family currently exist, with the third and latest generation comprised of Abraham's young grandchildren.

Structure

First Generation

Abraham "Bram" Furst, "Gravitas"

The patriarch of the Furst Family. Born in 1931 to Polish pogrom refugees in Brooklyn, Bram was the oldest of three kids. He discovered he was a superhuman at a young age, with the power to control and manipulate gravity. When the US passed the Superhuman Registration Act in 1954, Bram feared that the violence and tragedy that befell his parents and European relatives would befall superhumans everywhere. He took to campaigning for superhuman rights and amassed an impressive following. His efforts paid off when the Superhuman Registration Act was repealed in 1964. In addition to petitioning for civil rights, Bram also took up superhero work under the name Gravitas. He informally retired from superhero work after the death of his wife, but continues his work to promote superhuman welfare around the world to this day.

Magna Furst (nee Eisenhardt)

Bram's first wife. Born in Jersey City in 1935, her family hosted several Jewish families who fled Nazi Germany thorughout the duration of World War II. Many of them, it turned out, were superhumans just like Magna, who had the power to create small magnetic fields. When the US passed the Superhuman Registration Act in 1954, Magna feared that the violence and tragedy that her guest families faced would take root in America as well. She took to campaigning for superhuman rights and eventually met and started working with Bram Furst. The two eventually entered a relationship and married. Between campaigning for civil rights and raising three kids, Magna published a memoir, More Than Human. Sadly, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died in 1979.

Dana Petrov

Bram's second wife. A New York Times journalist, she took a great interest in Bram's work as both an activist and a superhero. They started dating a few years after Magna's death and eventually married. Their marriage was short-lived, however, and it ended in a bitter divorce after only a few years. Dana's current whereabouts are unknown, though she had a daughter who would enter the Furst family's life sometime later.

Second Generation

Magnhild Furst

The oldest daughter of Bram and Magna. Magnhild is an oddball among the Furst family in that she is the only baseline human among them. Nevertheless, she's supports superhuman rights just as strongly as the rest of her family. She prefers to stay out of the family's spotlight and currently works as a pro bono lawyer in New York City.

Gregory Furst, "Timezone"

Son of Bram and Magna and twin brother of Faustina. Possessing the power to manipulate time itself, Gregory was less interested in emulating his father as an activist and more interested in emulating him as a superhero. He took the codename Timezone and formed a duo with his twin sister. His abrasive personality hasn't made him popular as a superhero or a romantic partner, however. Gregory still managed to shock everyone when he announced his engagement to a woman with suspected familial ties to a superhuman supremacist group. Despite assumptions that it would't last, they are still married to this day and even had their first kid a few years ago.

Faustina Furst, "Chaos Queen"

Daughter of Bram and Magna and twin sister of Gregory. Possessing power over probability and entropy, Faustina was convinced by her twin brother to form a superhero duo with him. Though she was more interested in the activist side of her family's work, she agreed and took up the codename Chaos Queen. She began a relationship with fellow hero Shroud, and the two were married with twins on the way in a matter of months. Their relationship quickly soured, though, and the stress from hero work, raising twin boys, and dealing with her increasingly distant husband eventually broke Faustina, requiring a stay in a mental health facility. After a lengthy divorce settlement and custody battle, Faustina gained full custody of her children and semi-retired from superhero work. She's currently one of the leading advocates for improvements in mental health treatment in both baseline and superhumans, and has since remarried and given birth to a daughter.

Emily Marie "Em" Petrov, "Tesla"

Daughter of Bram and Dana. Raised by a single mother, Em spent most of her young life wondering about her absent father. It wasn't until she was an adult that she learned the answer--her father was famed superhero and supherhuman rights activist Gravitas, whom her mother had divorced before she was born. She grew closer to her newfound family and eventually joined her half-siblings in superhero work, utilizing her powers of electromagnetism as Tesla.

Victor Shadeland, "Shroud"

Faustina's first husband. Possessing the power to alter his density, Victor made a name for himself as the superhero Shroud. He had a relationship with fellow hero Chaos Queen, and the two soon married and had two twin boys. Victor eventually grew distant from his wife, and when she was eventually institutionalized for a mental breakdown, he wanted to divorce her and take custody of their kids. He lost custody rights after a lengthy legal battle, however, and soon after retired from superhero work. His current whereabouts are unknown, though rumors have cropped up that he started another family.

Kaspar Wagner, "Nightshade"

Faustina's second husband. After growing up as an outcast due to his powers, Kaspar eventually made a name for himself as the superhero Nightshade. He also had a great interest in superhuman rights, being a victim of mistreatment his whole life. It was through this interest that he met Faustina Furst, whom he eventually married and had a daughter with.

Crystal Furst (nee Atlas)

Gregory's wife. Crystal is a geokinetic supherhuman with a spotty family tree. Her sister Maeve and her sister's husband Tucson Bolton are suspected members of the superhuman supremacist group Evolution's Children, though she has personally denied any involvement with them. Her marriage to Gregory Furst came as a shock to everyone, but the two have been together ever since and even had a daughter a few years ago.

Third Generation

Urien Furst

Son of Faustina and Victor and twin brother of Elian.

Elian Furst

Son of Faustina and Victor and twin brother of Urien.

Lillith Furst

Daughter of Faustina and Kaspar.

Talitha Furst

Daughter of Gregory and Crystal.
