Isurium (Eh-sue-ree-uhm)

The Gem of the North. The Iron City. The Citadel of Mists. The city of Isurium has had many names throughout its rich history, each ending with a catastrophic destruction or epic battle which completely eradicated what was left before. But each time, the city of Isurium was built anew, under a new name, occasionally with new people, and sometimes the same. And now Isurium, the City of Many Names, stands as a monument to the resilience of Aspax. A symbol of the determined human weathering the overwhelming storm.   Isurium is the largest city in the north of Aspax, a shining beacon to the surrounding dark and twisted forestland. All trade routes in the area connect from Isurium to the rest of the country, forming a system which looks similar to the branches on a tree. All roads may lead to Asparla, but in the north, all roads first lead to Isurium. The city's main export is wood collected from the surrounding forest, and its largest import is weapons to assist and distribute for the war against Esnuedor.   Despite its status as a bastion of the North, the inside of Isurium is just as volatile as the rest of the region. Three main factions vie for control within the city, whether they wish to or not. The Aega, a group of priests who work in the Aegamare, Isurium's largest building and temple, have a lot of power off of the back of their medical abilities. In addition, the large aqueducts which flow out of the top of the Aegarium provides fresh water to the otherwise land-locked city. The second group is the Beaulieus, a group of nobles who have legal authority over Isurium, as dictated by their victories in the Certamen. They wield the most magical power, but are kept in check by the will of the people, who favor the Aega. Last but certainly not least is the Cerulean Hand, a shadowy group of thieves and assassins who rule Isurium's underbelly. They have the most wealth of the three factions, and aim for more. For now, these three groups are locked in a stalemate, each kept in place by another, but if a group of powerful individuals were to side with any of these factions, who knows what would happen within the walls of Isurium...
