The 13 Kingdoms of Man
The Thirteen Kingdoms of Man were founded in the year 232 of the Second Age, after the fall of the Malforged in what would be known as 'The Brightnight'. It was founded by a group of Thirteen Adventurers who had rallied the tribal and broken forces of men against the growing aggression of the Elves and Saurians. In what would be known as the 'Battle of The Iron Sea' these thirteen heroes would become legends and each divided up the lands as they saw best befitting their skills.
These thirteen lands would become thirteen kingdoms all sworn to a single idea -Mankind must survive, and to do so we must be united and divided at all times-. This idea of man living in different places, divided by borders and laws, but all connected under a single purpose would last for an Age until the first line of the 13 was broken and a throne was left heir-less. This led to the first real political divide among the 13. Now, well into the Third Age of the World, only four of the original 13 houses have their lines intact and much of the comradeship and unity of those Kingdoms have been lost, open war is still a rarity and border disputes rarely last more than a season.
Yet tensions remain high between all, and the Orange Council's meetings have grown more strained.

Geography
The 13 Kingdoms of Men are surrounded on either side by the three oceans. The Iron ocean to the north east, the Ocean of Storms to the south east, and the Bell ocean to the west. It's lands are varied with plains and rolling wheat fields occupying the south, with mountainous and fertile lands in the central and north kingdoms.
The center of the Kingdoms are separated by the Jet Division, a freshwater sea that is believed to be the only water not currently ruled by the Saurians.
Fauna & Flora
The land is the 13 kingdoms has very little in the way of forests, but much in the way of large fields of wheat, corn, and hay (to the south) and the central/northern parts are too mountainous for such large farming operations.
The terrain in the north is instead where most livestock in the kingdoms are reared, with rocky fields of short grass become home to thousands upon thousands of goats. It is also very popular for swine farms in the more rural regions.
The mainstay of the diet within the kingdoms, however, is fish and sea plants; many rich different herbs and bulbous plants that are gathered from divers in the seas. Beyond this, seaweed and kelp is as staple part of the diet as well, especially in the north where bread and wheat based products are more expensive and rare.
The most common fish consumed are called Gelfer's, large green scaled fish with yellow stripes that swallow smaller prey species whole. They are reputed to tasting quite savory with a hint of nut mixed in the meat. Second most common is Dav Eels, long snake like fish that are harvested along the shallows. They are very sweet and normally consumed with butter and lemon. Third most common is the muscle, with large muscle operations run all along the coast of the Jet Division and the twin lakes of Twinlac.
The rarest form of fauna found in the 13 Kingdoms is poultry, as the only places that really care to raise them in any large stock is the south west near the borders of the kingdoms as a whole. The perfered poultry of choice is a mottled grey flightless bird called a Yackle.
Natural Resources
The 13 Kingdom's claim to fame in terms of Natural Resources is three fold.
Firstly, the mountains in the northern region are littered with stone mines which are ferried to every part of the realms for construction as wood is such a commodity owned almost exclusively by the elves or the wilds.
Secondly is Iron, as it was discovered half way through the first age that the Bell Ocean to the west is littered with towers of Iron and the islands themselves are full of cave systems that go deep under the water to form the basis of those towers of iron ore.
Thirdly is Salt, the east Kingdoms of man are littered with rich natural salt preserves that are a rarity in terms of their quantity and quality. It is a common phrase and ideaology in the east to 'Judge a man by the taste of his Salt' for only low lifes and criminals would dare allow their personal stores of salt to be sub-par.
Beyond this the large natural wheat fields to the south are an excellent natural resources and the many breeds of mountain goats that were found in the central mountain ranges all helped develop the dietary norms and economy of the land.
