Riffleheim- The Seat of Stone

The very rock of Riffleheim, the black mountain, is the progenitor of the Dwarven race who were molded from stone and given life by the Malforged to be their miners and workers. Atop the mountain the ancient machines had one of their greatest ships tethered, 'X'rylessilex', one of the two flagships through which the Malforged entered the world and was from here that many of the most powerful of the machines lorded over the world.   At the start of the second age, or the Age of Liberation as it would be known by the Dwarves and Gnomes, the ship crashed into the earth scarring the area all around the mountain even to this day hundreds of years later. This collapsed many of the tunnels that the Dwarves had created to connect their seat of beginnings to the other dwarf holds all throughout the planet.   It took decades for the wreckage of the crash to be cleared enough that trade could be created between the human kingdoms and the dwarves, who in their state of liberation had held a contest to find the one who would rule them. A contest of might, skill and ingenuity where the contenders had to mine and survive the wilds of the underdark and return with a symbol to represent their house, the rarer the better. When the dust settled the Emperor of the Dwarves, Lord Malphorous the I settled into the seat of stone as it's ruler. The elder council, the advisors put forward by each of the nine noble houses known as the 'Krak'imal' or the first pebbles, would become the advisor and judges of this contest and assist the emperor throughout all of his works.   The city of Riffleheim itself is carved out of hundreds of miles of mountains connected by tunnels and pulley systems to make transit from place to place one of ease; powered by the poor and lineless. This has created the only nation in the world completely devoid of homelessness and poverty. Those who can not work properly in the fields needed to sustain the mountain are able to work in transit and earn their coin from the crown. The center piece of the city, the 'Seat of Stone' is a mighty palace carved of obsidian with a throne made of volcanic rock described in the Dwarven Religion as 'the fire of their creation'.

Geography

The city of Riffleheim is housed within the great mountain known as Rifflepeak, it resides north of both the Elven forest and the human kingdoms, separating the wild lands of the orcs to the west from the wild lands of orcs to the east. Five mountains make up the mountain range of Rifflepeak, each one housing a small city of dwarves and gnomes, with the central, larger peak housing the capital proper.

Fauna & Flora

The land around the mountain range has been permanently scarred and charred by the crashing of the Malforged flagship ages past and as such nearly no flora can be found. Dwarves grow a plethora of mushrooms and non-light dependent root vegetables in underground farms fed by underground lakes.   The only animals that exist in the mountain range are birds of prey such as the great Roc and scurrying rodents and critters. However the life in the mountains themselves are rich. Large underground crab creatures known as Cvons are bred and raised by the dwarves on mass, and beyond that many more rare and dangerous monsters exist in the underdark.

Natural Resources

In terms of resources the Riffleheim mountains are home to the largest reserves or iron and copper above the oceans, with rich streams of obsidian and onyx and buried deep down beneath miles of rock are rivers of mithril and silver.   The Cvon are a delicacy rarely tasted in other parts of the world as the exportation costs of it are far too high for the dwarves themselves to deal with.
