AYSHELVIEL- the Emerald Sea.

The might white trees of Ayshelviel reach high into the sky as far as the eye can see, the forest floor a cacophony of brilliant reds and oranges as the light from the sun filters down from the trees. Hidden deep in these places, away from prying eyes, reside the cities of the Elves. And, at the center, where the largest tree's roots begin, the great tree resides.   A living city of power and mystique built into the body of an ancient tree that has survived cataclysm after cataclysm untouched.   The Empire of the Emerald Sea was founded year 10 of the Second Age and was the main reason for the formation of the Human Kingdoms. The elves, who when ruled by the Malforged maintained a level of solidarity, fell back onto their noble lines almost immediately when their mechanical overlords were overthrown. The first Emperor, Lord Titanus Aush'avwellen was crowned on the first day of summer and he divided out the forest into the Five Fiefdoms that would be loyal to him and the capital. The military power of the elves and their desire for the rich resources of the mountains that the humans used as their home led to the near conquering of the human's before the 13 kingdom's could be founded. But this was stalled due to the Orcs that exist on the north and south edges of the Emerald Sea.

Geography

The Emerald Sea is spread out to the East of the 13 Kingdoms covering all the land south of the Phear all the way to the Ardent Sea in the far east, beyond which are mires and swamps controlled by the Orcs and contested by the Elves.   Dotted throughout the mighty forest with its tall white trees are a handful of mountain ranges that were formed during the cataclysm that was the Phear's awakening. Most notable of this are the Gorvak's Spine which houses two or the Drwarven Cities that have formed close allies with the Elves.   Because of the Elvish nature and their relationship with the forest, the present of phearzones are a dangerous threat. In the wake of a phearzone the Empire sends in specially trained clean up crews to remove the mutated wildlife and plant a new generation of flora. They also transplant animals into the region to reinvigorate life and control the populations of the other fiefdoms.

Fauna & Flora

The Emerald Sea is famous for its game. Great bears, boards and elk traverse it's tides in ancient, and inherited pathways. Beyond this the trees make perfect homes for some of the most majestic bird life in the world, and is rumoured to be the home of the legendary phoenix as predators that would seek the creature's valued eggs can not reach the canopy above.   The forest is home to a powerful indigenous breed of animal known as a Raxor, massive weighing several tonnes and looming nearly eight feet tall, these monsters slither along the floor of the forest creating natural grooves that control water flow and feeds nutrients right to the roots. They're name means forest feeder in elven and they are reputed as being terrifying to face in combat with their sheer size and mass coupled with a powerful born horn that grows out of the bridge of their snout protecting their head.   As for flora, the forest's key plantlife is the four different species of trees. The Arkvarn, the main tree that the human populace would see with brilliant red and orange leaves and bark of stark white are the outer most layer of the forest. Bernfern take up the next layer of the forest with thick needles coated in saps and home to many different breeds of insects, the barck of these trees are a very dark brown and remain alive even through the cold of winter. Fentwood makes up the third layer of trees in the sea, with rich caramel bark and wide thin leaves they are a provider of brilliant fent nuts, an acorn that is a delicacy to the elves and one of their premiere exports.   The innermost wave of the forest is comprised of the All Trees, titanic wood that is believed in the Elvish faith to be the progenitor of all tree families in the world, whose roots reach out throughout the entirety of the planet. These trees are the tallest and most sturdy in the world and the largest of them become great metropolises of the elven people.

Natural Resources

The largest natural resource of the Emerald Sea is wood! The elvish empire has a great machine of harvesters that know exactly what trees need to be cut and when; and using mana rituals and care regrow the sections of the forest that are needed to be cut as fast as they cut them down. This is by far their biggest claim to fame in terms of resources and is also the reason why the Saurian Empire has yet to claim a steak on the elven people.   They are excellent sailors and shipwrights. With access to the strongest woods in the words the elves have built an impressive navy and exporting ships to the human kingdoms is extremely lucrative.   Beyond this, the forest has a natural abundance of game animals and great herds of elk and deer are bred and used as food/exportation out of the forest.
This is the basis for the Elven Empire in the world of Pharoz, the Emerald Sea! More to come soon, and if you enjoy this please check me out over on patreon for more original fiction and setting creations!
