The eastern rainforest
On the south-eastern edge of the Hintadu's lands, a vast misterious rainforest extends that according to the legend has been populated for many centuries by Catkin.
Geography
Located on the south-oriental extremity of Phaldorya and irrigated by three high flow rate rivers, that occasionally converge into vast swampy areas, the eastern rainforest is most unexplored area of the continent, together with Danu's crown. Covering a surface of roughly 1.7 millions of km2, is one of the biggest forests in the continent.
Ecosystem
A lush forest with a warm and extremely humid climate, with an immense biodiversity that grants dynamics unique to these region.
Ecosystem Cycles
Despite the high level of humidity, the region present a dry and a wet season. During the wet season it rains nearly constantly when the winds from the Eastern Ocean, loaded of storms, come back toward the mainland ravaging the external parts of the forest and inundating with floods its heart. In the dry season the forest looks like a paradise on earth with most birds species in the reproductive season and the vegetation that goes through their blooming phase, with colorful fruits and flowers.
Localized Phenomena
The limited exploration of the area have reported the exhistence of quicksands and pocket of poisonous gasses, already in the most external part of the forest. So far, nobody has manage to come back alive from the heart of the forest.
Fauna & Flora
This is a tropical rainforest mostly comprising palms, ferns, mangroves and a few larger trees such as the rubber tree and breadfruit. The flora includes an incredible variety of insect and bird species, that represent the majority of the species in the forest, and as well various species of reptiles and amphibians. The Hintadu people recount the legend of the Catkin, a population of humanoid creatures with facial features of felines.
