The Otadan stands up still wobbly and limps to the fountain basin, immersing both arms and rubbig them to remove the disgusting pulp that's already drying on them. "This dudzil never gets out" the man complains frustrated. And with his stunted language it is not clear if he refers only to the green ichor that he's obsessively trying to clean off, or the whole situation.
In Otadan culture, in particular those most affected by the orchish army invasion, it is common belief that the mixing of human blood and goblinoid blood is the cause of the
Pard skin disease .
This prejudice has been prompted by the characterisic of the two types of blood to mix together into a black and sticky ooze, that resembles the content of the pustules and blotches that appear on the skin of those affected by the Pard's disease.
The fact that the first recording of the disease in the plains coincided chronologically to the orchish invasion, didn't help refuting the idea.
Since then, Otadan children have been taught to always clean their wounds with water if they ever came in contact with orcs and goblins. It goes without saying that so far an interaction between the two groups that doesn't contemplate some measure of blood exchange, has not even been imagined by the tribes elders.
The prejudice quickly spread to the common, even if not universal, mistrust of half orcs, and the firm refusal by almost all Otadan to drink the
Orc's blood wine that they consider just a very expensive form of self poisoning.
The man lowers the eyes on the blood that tinges the half-orc girl's clothes, where the weapons of their enemies managed to pass through and the red and green start to mix up in a blackish gunk. "You better wash your wounds, not good to mix..." he stops swallowing the rest of the sentence "If gets dirty, it heals slower" he finishes driving his eyes away.
Really interesting cultural belief. I really like the quotes - they really add to the mood of the article. Interesting that they hit upon good wound hygiene in their prejudice.
Thank you! The quotes are paraphrased from our campaign notes, this was one of those internal conflicts in the groups that I was interested in exploring, but sadly the other person had to stop playing, so i've been left with only a hook for an article :)
