Syväden Forest

A once rich kingdom claimed back by nature

The area now covered by Syväden forest was, a long time ago, the meeting point of powerful kingdoms grown out of all proportion, without curbing their ambition, to find their downfall after the tragic events of the Great War of the Mages. Struck down by immense amounts of magical powers and ravaged by what was left of armies now without leadership and control, this land was abandoned with humans retreating toward south, dwarves claiming their ancestral lands in the deep of the mountain and elves seeking the protection of the Solybor. Through the centuries, nature undisturbed has claimed back what elves, dwarves and humans once shared becoming one of the natural borderlines segregating creatures that once used to peacefully co-exist.

Under the canopy of the trees

The forest of the deep lairs is a vast territorial stretch mostly covered in coniferous and hardwood trees, crossed in the middle by a large road called the Winter Route. Although many explorers have ventured far away from the main road, the forest is commonly associated with dangers since lots of creatures have claimed it as their home. The deep lairs are an endless amount of ancient ruins to be buried somewhere in the forest luring the greed of adventurers, with their legendary treasures, and often claiming their lives. Differently from what is commonly believed the greatest danger for travellers in Syväden forest is to wander unable to regain their bearings until tiredness, hunger and dehydration will claim their lives, therefore is wisely recommended to not get away from the main road unless you have an expert guide.

Great work! I love the artwork you added and the neat little bird in the control panel!

Thank you! The bird Celtic knot is my doing and I am delighted you liked it... Hopefully, this article will need some expansion and a bit of rework, but time is short so I prefer to publish them in a partial version than not do it at all...
