Dragonfly of the inner sea Species in Phaldorya (Eng) | World Anvil

Dragonfly of the inner sea

The dragonfly of the inner sea was an insect diffused in most of the coasts of Phaldorya before the conflagration.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This dragonfly was an insect of that could be long up to thirty centimeters between head and tail, with transparent green wings that allow her to camouflage on the sea water. Those wings were probably carried horizontally and allowed this animal to glide gently over the water.

Genetics and Reproduction

The findings of fossils have allowed so far to understand that those animals used to depose multiple round eggs on the leaves of seaside plants, acting this way as pollinators. From those eggs would hatch larvae that would move into the water and hunt for larvae of other species of insect. It is unknown how many times those larvae would moult, although the number of fossils of animal in this stage induce the scholars to think it would occur multiple times in a life-cycle. Scholars believe the mating involved a complex ritual more for association with the species that presently live in Phaldorya.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

This species was diffused on the coastal areas of most of the continent, according to the distribution of the findings they were very common on the area of the Arquir Desert, that some scholar theorize it was a large inner sea in the past.
