Cryotriton

A mysterious amphibian

While exploring the caves where the ruins of the settlement called Burik lie, Lucas Almeyda had another strange meeting. An small albino salamander with bulging eyes adapted to see in nearly complete darkness and presenting the peculiar skill to control small bolt of cold energy, shooting them from its tail, to capture his favourite prey a cave cricket. The explorer managed to capture one female individual, keeping her as a pet, originally wanting to examine her in daylight and produce some drawings of the creature, but once observed her talents he decided to learn as much as possible about the creature.

Physical aspect

Cryotritons are small albino salamanders, with a prominent head mostly comprised by bulging dark eyes, with four small legs with webbed-toes. The body is mostly white with same graysh spots that help them hiding on the rocks. The trunk is wide and flat, surmounted in the males by a small skin ridge, and gradually narrows down forming the tail. Female are slightly longer than males reaching fifteen centimeters of length from head to tail, male usually don't get over twelve centimeters.

Hunting skills

In their natural environment, cryotritons use their large eyes to scan the darkness around them. Moving slowly and silently they get close to their preys, most commonly cave crickets which can be larger than them. With a rapid flick of the tail the cryotriton can produce a bolt of cold energy that stuns the prey, allowing them to capture them easily. The will normally kill the prey with a bite of their toothless mouth and carry them to the lair to feed their offspring.

Thank you. In the next few months, I plan to update a bit the neglected Italian version, but I would like to give details and graphics to the stubs created for Summercamp... I hope they will look good...
