Help

One creature aids another creature in a task they are attempting.

Action Elements

  • Perform a Check (can be a part of another Action that you pay the Action Economy, Cost, etc. for) that could legitimately provide some form of aid or helpful information to the Target Creature's task (requires GM approval).
  • The Check's result will determine how the help Check is applied:
    • Boon (whichever is helpful):
      • -3 Difficulty Levels to the Creature's next related Check.
      • -OR-
      • +/-3 Dice added to a Countdown Pool.
    • Pass (whichever is helpful):
      • -2 Difficulty Levels to the Creature's next related Check.
      • -OR-
      • +/-2 Dice added to a Countdown Pool.
    • Push (whichever is helpful):
      • -1 Difficulty Level to the Creature's next related Check with a Cost that must be dealt with.
      • -OR-
      • +/-1 Die added to a Countdown Pool.
    • Failure: No Effect
    • Bane (whichever is detrimental):
      • +1 Difficulty Level to the Creature's next related Check.
      • -OR-
      • +/-1 Die added to a Countdown Pool.

Example

While an ally studies a foreign script, you call upon your knowledge of linguistics & perform an Education + linguistics Check & on a Pass are able to aid your ally in the translation attempt by pointing out some commonality to another script or implied sentence culture. Alternatively, while an ally attempts to decipher a code-lock on a door you might attempt to distract the attacker with a Personality + intimidation Check to make yourself look like the bigger threat that needs their full attention or maybe provide literal physical cover for your ally by attempting a Strength + tough Check to take all incoming fire aimed at your ally.
