House Mormont

House Mormont is the House that rules over The Bear Isles, a large collection of islands including Bear Island, Forest, Winter, Snow, Karstark, and Bolton. These islands are home to mainly two ethnicities - the Bearians and the Ahtroni. It's a notable outlier from most other houses of Pentos  with different views and laws regarding murder, the LGBTQ+ community, and religion.

Structure

Lord Paramount (Familial head. Female equivalent: Lady Paramount), Lord (female equivalent: Lady), Adviser, Scholar, Druid.

Public Agenda

Their rule is a lot more focused on community and familiarity with the citizens. There are a lot of intermixing of classes and other groups. currently House Mormont is going back The Bear Isles past of the Ahtroni culture that was thwarted by House Renly in 1200 ACE

Assets

All of house Mormont are good sailors as well as most the citizens who, if need be, are all well enough versed to become navy members. They have unique bear warriors with custom armour and a specialised diet to maximise strength. They are the third richest house from the rebel houses behind House Sprinklage -- and House Sand. They have special Gazzarite Steel items like other houses except they have an extra item, they have two short khopeshes and a breastplate called Phobos, Deimos, and Soteria respectively. They have rule over all The Bear Isles which each have a keep and small city on. These islands are Bear Island which has two cities Sailstead and Streamskeep, Winter, Forest which has The Pirate school and a pirate run city , Karstark which has a large prison which is used to train troops and keep all of Pentos' prisoners, Snow, and Bolton. Most of the army is navy but there are a lot of people trained in hand to hand combat as troops.

History

The Mormonts were put into rule by House Renly in 1200 ACE after the Seltra family line (the rulers of the Ahtroni) who refused to be conquered. Originally the Mormonts were Renly puppets and suppressed any form of rebellion seen in the Ahtroni. tis caused mass unrest and the citizens weren't happy. Until 1362 when Barack Mormont came to be Lord Paramount at the age of 14; he decided to become more accustomed and integrated into Ahtroni culture and married an esteemed Ahtroni, Sheisa Depthstrider.

Demography and Population

In The Bear Isles there are six islands with the most populated being Bear Island which has two cities on it, Streamskeep which is fairly small a level 3/2 city and the capitol Sailstead which is a level 4 city. Then there's one city on each of the other islands named after their respective islands, imaginative i know.
Forest is the next most populated mostly appealing to pirates and criminals as it's run by the pirate mafia and is home to The Pirate school. It is the densest city in The Bear Isles
The next most populated is Karstark however the entire population is prison workers and prisoners.
Bolton is the next most populated with a fairly sparse population, this means that its mostly farms and the land is cheaper so most people have fairly big houses there.
Snow and Winter are colder and the least populated with the smaller cities probably closer to large towns.
The house as a whole is probably one of the least populated in the east with a larger population than House Thrush but lower than the rest.
The birth rate is pretty high and so is the death rate, there are many fights and fighting events in which people die but it's a way of life people choose. It evens out and those who don't die young usually live to quite old with the oldest being a woman called Charlatan Tiders who is 115. There is running joke among the population that she lives off of spite a she is an extremely spiteful person and breaks many many laws every single day.

Military

The military is all naval trained and most are trained troops. There are specialised bear troops; bears specifically dieted and trained to be warriors. They have armour from blacksmiths from Sailstead and are vicious to oppose. There are many ships for the navy since fishing vessels can be easily modified quickly to support troops and naval battles. The ships are smaller than other houses' but are very quick and agile in manoeuvring.
Training camps in cities train troops to fight and there is a state of the art battle simulation program on the coast by Streamskeep which is mostly a military town. They're also trained to fight in the more violent areas of The Bear Isles so in Karstark and Forest.

Religion

There is no religion in the sense that they don't believe in any gods or worshipping however they do have sacred things that must be respected like the sea, bears, sails, nets, and sharks; they also have cursed things that must be regulated like fire, tigers, and fire cows. Druids are the leaders of all things sacred and cursed so they decide the parameters that are taken for each.

Foreign Relations

House Mormont has a good relation with all the houses in the east with slight dislike towards House Stone and House Reed after The Bear War where the houses eradicated most of the bear population and released some bears into House Sprinklage -- however that was in the far past and relations have gotten better between all the houses.
They have a very good relation to House Sand and House Sprinklage -- as well.
They absolutely loath the fuck out of Henry Hardrada. Hardrada have hated them ever since 1229 when Vauquelin Mormont murdered his wife, Ursula Hardrada, in a psychotic episode. He was later implemented into an institute and shunned from The Bear Isles but House Hardrada has never forgiven them, killing Vorchei Mormont's parents in 1446 along with his Aunt Perenelle.
Obviously, the western houses, House Renly, House Randill, House Watcher, House Newt, and House Moor, have a bad relation with House Mormont. I mean, they are at war after all.

Agriculture & Industry

House Mormont has a lot of rare resources that are used in trading. The main exports are cocoa and pearls along with less rare resources like wood and crops. They are the epicentre of boat crafting and create the best boats in Pentos. They also have a very wide range of plants, fruits, and vegetables. There are also some good meats sold like rare fish, big fish, fire beef and lamb. Blacksmithing is also a widespread trade in The Bear Isles because of the Ahtroni tradition of wearing various pieces of armour as fashion accessories.

Education

School is not mandatory. Anyone of any age can choose to attend school and there are many small schools for many different subjects. People attend schools for a term at a time (10 weeks) and that counts as one level of that subject. There are different levels of each subject running until level 40. Before you do any specialised schools you must attend 2 years of a standard school to teach literacy and critical thinking in order to allow people to understand the specialised teaching. Among the nobles of The Bear Isles, tutors are very popular to teach the most respected subjects (science, history, and inventing) to their children until they master them. This results in a large quantity of noble engineers, inventors, and historians.
