The Hoekbowl Stones

Up, high up in the mountains north of Mes, which are called the Hoekbowls, lies a meadow. This meadow is no ordinary meadow, filled with birdsong and the happy rustling of grass, no, this is a sinister meadow for out in the lush greenery stand tall, rough black stones. Some say they are natural from the earth and others say they were road markers, but listen close and I will tell you their true purpose.    Once in the days before the failing of magic, druids from all over the world would come to this meadow, when it was clear of stone, and would celebrate nature with great reverence. Then the druid numbered a great many and one would seek them out for advice. It was here a great many of people from the norther regions came down to the meadow when the celebration was happening.   Surrounding the meadow, these angry people hated the druids for their beliefs in nature and planed to take action. On their leaders signal, they sprung into the clearing and began slaughtering the druids, even the children. It was then a great cloud passed over the sun and turned all into the darkness of night. People screamed and ran, trying to find their children and families in the darkness.    Then, just as sudden as it had came, the cloud departed and the northern men had been transformed into rocks as tall as trees. They say on the shortest rock there used to be a message. It goes like this: 'Be warned! For none can destroy those who are sacred and pleasing and expect to be seen faultless! Do not tempt me to destroy all of your kinfolk.'   The stones, as you know, are still there today although there are more now than there were then. More must have committed evils warranting them turning to stone like the others! So now, don't do anything rash! I don't want to find another stone up there!
