Peloponnesia

Peloponnesia is a Greek/Roman inspired microcosm within a nearly infinitely vast realm. Like many other miniature-worlds in this Universe, it is created and sustained by divine beings who treat all living creatures within it as their mere pawns and experiments. However, these deities often find themselves attached to some of their creations, and it is these individuals who often find themselves in the centers of grandiose and epic stories.   Unlike "traditional" fantasy worlds, divines are much more human than even their Greek counterparts- in addition to their flaws, hubrises, and dispositions, they are not eternal. They must eventually have a successor ascend to their places in the heavens. This is what motivates them to constantly find successors among their creations. What makes this difficult for them is that these dieties do not have the luxury of prophecies which are guaranteed to be true. When a diety becomes invested in a mortal individual, they take the same risks a mentor or employer does.   Mortals and divines alike are bound to a life force called "Pneuma"- known in different names in other worlds (i.e. "mana", "chi", "chakra" etc.), but the same concept- it is an energy, a intangible substance that can be manipulated either with physical prowess magic, or both, which can manifest itself in awe-inspiring powers and feats worthy of the epic heroes and villains who have mastered control over it.
