Wieslant

Wieslant is a secret space station hiding behind a screen of scattered signal emitters that match the background wavelength frequency in the dark void from several of the dominant powers.

Demographics

Transmigrant exiles of the second and fourth wave found their way to the Third Sector during a tumultuous time and were forced to flee rapidly into the cosmic void to escape persecution.
Alphi
Ethnicity | Mar 3, 2024

An independently minded, near nomadic, culture who hopscotch between alien places

Originally, the vego were simply wealthy Alphi wearing designer flesh suits of humanoid design and a vampiric vestige complete with fins and folding wings.   Since then, they have maintained this appearance as a mark of their separate culture and are generally indifferent to most things outside their community.
Gammians
Ethnicity | Mar 3, 2024

Cybernetically enhanced clones trapped in stigmatized bodies

Gammians living under the pantheons are typically a repressed people who might seize any condition to escape their predicament.   And so, a select number of higher tier gammians were coerced into joining the veto in their exodus into the unknown and are generally more welcoming than their vego masters.

Government

Major Arcanum

The collective set of agencies who offer acceptable guidance and fortitude to growing vegos while maintaining the status quo.
Jest Arcanum
Aids those in starting new phases in life or preparing to journey to other sectors without compromising the secrecy of Wieslant.
Empress Arcanum
Aids in romantic pairing and ceremony and oversees in protecting communal mental health.
Hierophant Arcanum
Aids in establishing tradition that is applicable to Wieslant's environment and palatable to its permanent citizens.
Moon Arcanum
An exploratory and resource finding group, primarily compromised of gammian probes, who look for asteroids to mine while venturing deeper and deeper into vast void.
Wheel Arcanum
An advisory body that analyzes the goings-on of its geopolitical rivals in Nataraja System and Gammium on the macro scale for a wider perspective.
Chariot Arcanum
A military order that rarely, if ever, becomes involved in military actions. They are meant to be the solution to hostile actors discovering Wieslant.

Defences

Passive Stealth Measures

Wieslant's hull is cooled by liquid helium to provide an active hull cooling that matches the ambient temperature of outer space.   All excess heat from cooling are stored inside the station for maintaining livable conditions. When it becomes overwhelming environmental manage turn to turning off the reactors and engines to free float, slowly venting to vacuum through radiative transfer or objects in contact with the heat sink; specifically chosen to be bad thermal conductors.

Pirate Fleet

Crews of Betan Minor cyclers view Wieslant as one of the few safe places to rest and recuperate after harrassing the genetic pantheons.   It is considerably larger, and less cause for being alert, than their hideaways inside Began Hall and easier to escape to than the gammian cities in Gammium. The cycler pirates contribute to Wieslant's anonymity by acting as an early warning system and running diversions when enemy ships happen by.

Industry & Trade

Cycler Exchange

Gangs of space raiders offload their ill-gotten gains at secret coordinates in exchange for a safe port and to meet and coordinate with other cycler ship captains.

Outsourced Nutrients

Both the vampiric vego and the bodiless gammians are reliant on the synthetic production of photovoltaics and oxygen for sustained survival.

Infrastructure

Cycler Port

Ten free swinging arms, controlled entirely by the gammians entombed into its infrastructure, are capable of hooking onto cycler ships to load and unload loot.

Asteroid Anchor

The first found chunks of free floating rock fused together into dual work/living space, complete with transferred life support systems and flooded with acceleration fluid for the organic vego.

Districts

Vego Halls

  • Type: Residential
  • Population: 240
  • Primary Building Style: Stone and other Silicone-based Materials
  • Secondary Building Styles: Clay Lined Fiber and Canvas
  • Aesthetics: Tasteful
  • Cleanliness: Orderly
  • Upkeep: Handsome
The vego halls are made from shaped stones taken from rouge asteroids into large rings, three levels deep, that spin to create centripetal gravity.

Gammian Pipes

  • Type: Industrial
  • Population: 51
  • Primary Building Style: Glass Tubes and Life Support Systems
  • Secondary Building Styles: Metal tubes and Fibre Optic Wires
  • Aesthetics: Normal
  • Cleanliness: Dirty
  • Upkeep: Practical
The pipes are endemic of the last organic paarts of the cybernetic gammians. It is in the isolating glass tubes that the brain, and sometimes spine, of an individual is left to float and see to the day-to-day tasks.

Assets

Asteroid Quarries

Giant shields coated with radar absorbing materials are positioned in line of sight of the pantheons to obscure mining operations from the Betans' sensors. This allows teams of up to twenty to extract stone and ores unnoticed and transported under disguised ships.

Points of interest

Closest Competitors

Norse Pantheon
Two massive space stations settled at the LaGrange points between the Seid Stars.   A near collapsing pantheon that is increasingly decentralized and whose subservient class of betans regularly defect to other powers or pantheons.
Zapotec Pantheon
Two massive space stations settled at the LaGrange points between the Flashlights.   A pantheon who has grown increasingly aggressive and proactive in pursuing cyclers, to the detriment of their primary purpose, but meritorious in extending high positions to minor betans.
Twilight Belt
Partial architectural inspiration for Wieslant came with the gammian attaché.   Gammians use their bodies to form semi-living structures from their mechanical bodies to build bridges to span gaps, group together to raft in outer space and form temporary shelters to house other refugees.

Architecture

The overall architecture consist of a ring of bolted space rocks painted in a black radar absorbing spray that is attached to a spiral of metallic, autonomous arms along a relatively flat disk. These arms are a fusion of gammian bodies and recycled ships with long segmented corridors for conventional bodies to traverse and visiting ships to anchor.   Gammians willingly build these living ports out of their semi-mechanical bodies while housing their brains in specialized compartments filled with glucose solutions. From there, they direct the arms' movements and orientation, air flow and nutrient allocation, system diagnostics and inventory.

Geography

Void

Wieslant hides in the cosmic void some ways away from the outer cluster of Gammium's mess of asteroids. It is far away from any star to act as an energy source. Instead, relying on fusionable materials, reactors and energy saving policies to blend into the background radiation and natural 3 to 4 Kelvin temperature; while maintaining a 271K internally.
