Arafel (a-ra-fell)
Purpose / Function
Arafel is intended as a protective barrier separating the Lurker Threshold from Anatta.
Design
Arafel is a perfect sphere, 90 billion light years across, containing an entire universe whose matter content only exists in the places where nothing would in ours.

Time Travel
It is an easy thing to travel through 4 dimensions without even realizing it.
Manidweepa is a place where 3 and 4 dimensions regularly interact. They appears as rifts that twist and turn in recognizable patterns around the space that make certain places physically closer than what they may initially seem.
This is because the space that was between them temporarily disappear or accelerate forward or backwards in time as wrinkle currents.
Arafel is a reverse blackhole constructed to make it impossible for anything to enter or leave... save for one little oversight.A comparatively tiny portion of Anatta's outer circumference presses into the Threshold. This makes it open to the type of temporal displacement that is common in Manidweepa as a whole. A pilot might skip to a time before the barrier's construction then to a time after; and just like that, a cosmological engineering marvel is rendered pointless.
Sensory & Appearance
Visibility
Arafel is mostly invisible to the wider dimension, even if looking directly at it. This is more because it is so large that it is indistinct from people's view of the area. However, sparkles of light can be noticeable when streams of light strike its surface which helps in highlighting its scale.Denizens
Gavians
Gavians are diamond shaped creatures bearing a fabric-like texture. They have two or three layers that constitute a gill-like structure close to the tip of its body. Further wing-like flaps protrude near its base that wave every which way as a form of communication. It is the gavians who are credited with building the cosmic megastructure through mysterious means with unknowable materials.Contents & Furnishings
Arafel completely encloses Anatta.
The structure is partially maintained by an internal spiral that touches the inner edges and opposite poles. Anatta is technically full of more stuff than our universe of Saudha Samudra.
Its inhabitants are made of nothing. Or so it is simplified. Every time they cross the barrier in either direction, an unknown reality transformer converts one's being as to survive in either realm.
Special Properties
Altered Light Speed
Similar to the alien principles that went into building the Destiny Pipeline; Arafel is a reduced LightSpeed blackhole that encloses a solar system sized habitat for gavians. It is not a blackhole in that they would be crushed into a singularity. Rather, that light is so slowed down that one would be torn into sub-molecular particles once the horizon is reached.Though it may have perhaps worked as intended in any other dimension, it can be bypassed in Manidweepa due to the ease of travel through time.
Defenses
Thaumiel
Thaumiel is the operating base from which gavians in the TTA govern their missions from outside Anatta. It is a singular dodecahedron-shaped satellite that is invisible against Anatta's blank blackness. Thaumiel's exterior resembles 12 pentagons wrapped into a sphere, while its interior is confusingly maze-like and larger in the inside than it is on the outside.
