Würfelrennen

It's a game as straightforward as they get, but that makes it perfect for passing time. If you don't have a set you can just draw the board on the ground and make the pieces out of anything you find. The only real need is the dice since those are hard to replicate the whole thing is based on luck and there is barely any strategy to it all. But you see, a game doesn't have to be sophisticated as long as it is fun the way it is and let me tell you, this one is. a factory worker describing the game

Overview of the game

Würfelrennen is a simple board game that focuses on luck and dice. It consists of a single rectangle board divided into square tiles that form four columns, 10 tiles each, an appropriate number of game pieces (one for each player) and a set of 5 six-sided dices for every player. The objective of the game is to travel all the way to the 40th tile. The winner is the one who does it first

History

The game originates from circles of south Verfandian workers that were looking for a simple game to pass their break time on. The first concept that became widely played didn't include a board and game pieces and consisted only of a set of dice and a list on which wins in "dice clashes" were counted. One to first get 20 wins, won the whole game. This gimmick was eventually replaced with a board and evolved into what Würfelrennen is today.

Rules

The game has a short set of rules. Every player has a single turn during which he throws a single dice and moves his piece forward the number of tiles equal to what he got. If he steps on a tile with another player's piece, a confrontation begins. The two throw all 5 dices three times in a row. Who wins more than twice remains on the tile, while the loser has to go three tiles back.

Sometimes simple games are the best ! :)   Question: if the loser goes back to 3, can they provoke another duel because of that ? How many players can play it ?   Happy Summercamp ! :)

Thanks for the comment! To answer your question, yes, they can provoke another duel and that can go all the way back if they keep on running into other players and losing. Some people change that to a maximum of 3 fights per a player's round, but that's a modification to the basic rules. And concerning players, there usually is around 3 to 8, though 10 could also play just as well, though it would be quite messy!
