Traditional housing of the Thalassian Ethnis

Those houses are designed in such a way so that a lot of light is let in, emphasising the already bright interior. The Thalassians build their homes to enjoy life, to create a space that works for them in every way. Practicality and good design of the interiors outrank grandeur or splendour of the facade. The building is meant to be simple from outside but with a fantastic atmosphere inside. excerpt from a book about the Thalassian architecture

Architecture

The traditional housing of the Thalassian Ethnis originates from an interest in the native population of the region and implementation of their own culture modified to fit their philosophy. Their structure is borrowed from the natives, drawing great inspiration in layout and space planning, while interior and colours are of their own design.

Facade

The outer walls are most commonly left almost undecorated, being only painted white. This is done on purpose as if the walls were embellished they would draw attention away from the garden that is the actual centrepiece of the outside of the house. It is usually lush and left intentionally somewhat unattended so that undisturbed nature can show through with its beauty. The thing that breaks up the monotony of the walls are the big windows that are designed to let in a lot of sunlight into the interior. Usually, the roof is left flat with only some sections being topped with a simple cone, dome or pyramid, coloured with an intense colour (blue, yellow, etc.).

Interior

The rooms are designed to be as spacious as possible, with widespread usage of half-walls to divide the rooms without losing the feeling of space. They are filled with bright and warm colours that are present on the walls and furniture. Plants are also very much so present in the way of how a room is decorated.
