The Village Of Lib

A tiny village nestled in a valley surrounded, to the West, by an impenetrable forest, and to the East, by a group of charcoal mountains, the largest, Bel, stood unmoving in the centre of the group, boasting a snow-topped peak (although the peak has not been climbed for hundreds of years, the snow at the top appears grey and gritty, dirtied by the grim surroundings.   The village itself is not, upon first glance, any more inviting. Perhaps twenty small cottages lay in the valley, huddled together like penguins in sub-zero temperatures.   The buildings are made from wood, and the vast majority aren’t decorated at all on the outside - all of them possess the same derelict, yet somehow stout, appearance.   To the left of the cottages lies a building a little more well-kept than the others. It is slightly larger, too. This is Lib’s library, a place which holds many ancient documents and secrets.   The ruler of Pax is unaware of its existence, believing the library to have been destroyed millennia ago.

Geography

The valley is not a beautiful place. It is not even averagely good to look at. The terrain is covered mostly in pebbles, occasional patches of grass sprouting up through the grey stones covered in soot.   Outside of the valley, the forest is perhaps the nicest location. On sunny days, its trees appear to be an emerald green, and sway serenely in the breeze invitingly. However, on most days, the forest is intimidating, dense, closed off. Rumours have spread of cannibals living in them, preying on anybody stupid enough to enter.   The mountains too are unforgiving. Charcoal grey and amazingly steep, their beauty lies in their terrifying nature.   The smallest mountain, Arc, is the most forgiving, but it still boasts drops and sharp edges that could kill a person instantly if they take the smallest step out of place.

Fauna & Flora

Forget-me-nots are the only flower that exists in the area. They’re beautiful yet sparse, and if a person sets out to retrieve one, it can take them hours to return.   There are some bushes scattered around that grow small plum-coloured berries, which is often used for food and extra flavouring.   The most common animal in Lib is a pigeon-like bird. This species is in abundance, and fly around the valley and surrounding areas at all times of the day. Due to this commonness, they’re the main source of food for those living here.   Mountain goats live on the mountains, and are extremely docile. A few extra friendly ones have been domesticated and kept as pets by eccentrics in years past.

Natural Resources

Wood is used from the forest, and the stones found on the floor are often used to strengthen structures.
