Tenshi Item in Pathfinder: Crusades | World Anvil

Tenshi

A psicrystal turned into a construct after it was gifted to Zakina Kociak-Falenmir during the trials of Xibalba. Tenshi appears as a glittering, crystalline, black cat. Its ties to Xibalba were severed magically, allowing Zakina the opportunity to have it animated and repurposed for her own needs. Tenshi is quite small, so it doesn't serve any purpose in combat, instead choosing to hide itself within Zakina's bag to avoid its own destruction. Its major use is as a communication device and an aid for scouting endeavors.

Special Abilities

  True Seeing
Tenshi sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magical means, sees exact locations of creatures or objects under displacement or invisibility effects, sees through illusions, and can see the true form of things that have changed through transmutation or polymorph. True seeing can't penetrate solid objects and doesn't negate concealment, including that caused by fog and the like. It can't see through mundane disguises, spot creatures who are simply hiding, or notice secret doors by mundane means.

  Telepathic Bond
Tenshi forges a telepathic bond among its owner and a number of willing creatures, each of which must have an intelligence score of three or higher. Each creature included in the link is linked to everyone else within the network. They can communicate telepathically through the bond regardless of language. No special power or influence is established as a result of the bond and once it's formed, it works over any distance (and some dimensional planes). Included in Teshi's bond currently are Zakina, Rikius, Lilac, Maple, Clover, and Sildasa, and Lucky.
  Share Sight
With a moment of meditation, Tenshi's owner can reshape their link with it, allowing it to function as a scrying sensor. They gain his sight-based abilities so long as the link is maintained, but they can use their own perception skill. The link is broken immediately if the owner takes damage or enters combat. The link can be reestablished during combat, though it requires a concentration check to maintain it in such stressful situations.
  Immunity
Given its magical nature that's now made it akin to constructs, Tenshi is immune to death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects, necromancy effects, paralysis, poison, sleep, stun, and any effect that requires a fortitude saving throw. Its not subject to nonlethal damage, ability damage or drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. This doesn't mean its immortal though and Tenshi can be destroyed if it takes enough damage.
  Glitterbomb
Tenshi is not equipped to handle combat by any means. With no weapons, natural or crafted, it can only rely on defensive maneuvers, such as retreating into a bag of holding or polymorphic pouch. If directly threatened with no chance of fleeing, its lets out a burst of mostly harmless glitter to distract the enemy so that it can escape.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Inside of Tenshi's crystal is a single preserved jabberwock eye, which is the source for a majority of its new abilities. Beyond that, there isn't much in the way of construction when it comes to it. A black, crystalline armor was enchanted onto it to fuse with its body, providing it with armor.

History

Tenshi was once a psicrystal owned by a member of the Thamsanqa clan within the trials of Xibalba. It served as a communication device between this person and others of their kind who had psicrystals of their own.

Significance

Tenshi is animated proof of the Society of Free Thinkers triumph over the trials of Xibalba, even if the judges of said trials are anything but pleased with their self-proclaimed victory. With Tenshi's new abilities, it serves as a direct line of communication between Zakina and her children while she's on the road. As such, it has an added sentimental value and she does everything she can to make sure its protected during dangerous encounters.
