Session 91: My Little Party's Just Beginning Report in Pathfinder: Crusades | World Anvil

Session 91: My Little Party's Just Beginning

General Summary

Next on our agenda of possible world breaking tasks is to either continue piecing Exius together or take a detour and discover the direct source of mythic powers. Some of us are worried that our ties to our powers will be severed again and while Industria's not convinced that will happen, she's willing to hear us out. She even suggests heading into the city of Axis to snoop around and see what the Axiomites know about it, though Elathera thinks that could start an all-out war if we're caught. We come to an impasse...that is until Industria mentions that we know the best person to ask about this sort of thing.   Baba Yaga.   She whisks us into the Astral Plane, hoping that we can find Yanca's soul or at the very least, somebody who's seen her pass through the afterlife recently. She then makes a big mistake and leaves me and Elathera on our own as she questions several spirits. While we behave ourselves for approximately five minutes, I suggest we cross the bridge that souls pass to face their judgment, both out of curiosity and out of boredom. Only one of us can pass at a time, so after some good ol' fashioned rock-paper-scissors, I'm the first to go. The universe makes it painfully clear that I'm not supposed to do this and an unknown voice even tells me that my story's not done unfolding. So what do I do?   I press on, using my acrobatic talents as the bridge narrows and widens in an effort to turn me around. The other spirits waiting around are entertained, but as I come upon the final step, I miss my landing and the silver thread that ties my soul to my body snaps, sending me plummeting to my death. Elathera immediately reverses time, hoping she can save me. I have no memory of what just happened though, so as I'm back on the bridge, I attempt the final step again. And again. And again. Elathera can do nothing but reverse time and watch on in horror as I continue to make the same mistake until Industria storms across the bridge and drags my ass back to the other side.   Our trip to the Astral Plane is a bust. Yanca isn't here, so we return home and head straight to Altamere to pick his brains on her whereabouts. She's in a city called Pilos, in the country of Gracia. That entire continent is unfamiliar to us, but it turns out it isn't all that different from Caelsimil. Aside from the basic, working electricity they have access to without the help of magic. Upon scrying on Yanca's soul, we're treated to the sight of a middle-aged man quietly writing in a cozy room. I utilize my psychic abilities to parse through his mind, learning that this is Yanca. Not a reincarnated soul, nor a possessed being. It's the Baba Yaga herself and she definitely wants to get revenge for what we've done.   It turns out that she's made deals with three powerful beings and while I'm unable to find the terms of these contracts, I know that it somehow leads to Yanca's resurrection. Until those deals are broken or the receipients are killed, the Baba Yaga can never die. Industria wants to parley with Yanca, but I get the feeling that chances of an agreement between her and us are slim to none. After some back and forth, Elathera suggests that we keep Yanca trapped within an anti-magic field, allowing someone to stand guard while the rest of us find and deal with her associates. It's enough to work with, so I jump back into Yanca's mind to gather more information.   Dradjit the Godslayer is a rakshasa immortal who ascended to that position after betraying her former master. Areshkagal the Demon Lord is a goddess of greed that's worshiped by many drow and dragons. She resides in the Bloodclefts, a chaotic evil realm. The last deal is with a minor goddess, Nomias, and there isn't much information available on her. All we know is that she was once mortal and despite her obscurity, she has a steady group of followers. We decide that Dradjit will be our first target.
