Caelsimil Organization in Pathfinder: Crusades | World Anvil

Caelsimil

Caelsimil is a country that is a part of United Lands of Caelsimil Teme-Rasadar. Located on a peninsula bordered by the Basc Sea to the east and north, the Waveless Sea to the south, and Teme-Rasadar to the west.

Structure

Caelsimil is a nation apart of the sovereign state of the United Lands of Caelsimil Teme-Rasadar.

Caelsimilian Politics

The nation is run as a theocratic duodictatorship, with power shared between the Hierophant and the Annointed General. The Hierophant is a position appointed by various local religious leaders who convene with the gods to fill it, typically over seen by the Annointed General. The Hierophant then appoints an Annointed General. Both posiitons serve for life or until retirment.   Although the military and religious order maintain direct, unified control over all the nation's lands, they recognize three types of territories, each with a degree of local governance. Firstly, cities and towns enjoy a measure of autonomy, particularly in adjusting specific laws, taxes, and rights within their domains. This autonomy is overseen by Marshal Wardens, whose primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and protection of the residents within their jurisdictions.   In addition to cities and towns, smaller religious communities exist, serving various purposes such as military training or religious retreats. Unlike the more autonomous cities and towns, these communities are characterized by tighter controls on access and a stricter regulation of trade to preserve their intended purpose and sanctity. The leadership of these enclaves falls to Vicars, who are religious figures entrusted with guiding the spiritual and communal life of these distinct communities.   Finally few tribes remain, but here the local's maintane their traditional form of governance under the state's protection. These territories are simply called tribal lands.

National Politics

Constitutionally the United Lands are a representative democray, with the people of each of its divisions electing a number of senators to sit in the Grand Senate of the United Lands. Caelsimil is thus divided into one hundred senate seats. Additionally each nation uses internal methods to appoint a member to the Council of Faces, a position held eternally by the Annointed General.

Culture

The culture of caelsimil is based on three traditions- the strict military discipline that helped them survive the journey over the Lendover Mountains, the piety of their leaders who gave themselves to ensure the original safe passage, and a past of persecution in their holy land. This last is what seperates them from their cousins who endured in the holy land in their veiw of the world. As a militant theocracy caelsimilians tend to view those in government as those favored by the gods, the military is promoted in a system of merit where those favored are said to be granted betterment than those unfavored. Because of this the general expectation is that those in government are favored by the gods and there thus the government must be good.

History

The land that is now the nation of Caelsimil begins with its native peoples. The native caelsimians were a tribal people, organized into large groups of subsistence farmers. These tribes were organized into large clans, typically of between five and thirty individual tribes. These people, also called Simoril, spoke a shared language. Their gods were those of their crop, who protected them from the threats of their age: Estian slavers and pirates as well as dark elves, emerging from the Underdark to do trade.   Following their proexution in their homeland, over the years several large pillgrimages would come over the Lendover Mountains seeing the penninsula as untamed farmland. The exsisting clans and new pilgrims would form a covinant, cities would arise to protect and market the tibe's nearby crops.   The rise of the first caitiff Jolene Canterbury, the Oracle of Bones, would throw this into disarray. A religious extremist she saw the native religions and gods and the city states' acceptance as a wrong. Her War of Life and Strife brought about the end of peace on the lands.   The war would bring about the fall to the powers of the clans, and unite the once seperate cities into the nation of Caelsimil. The population would fall as hordes of undead would rise and march across the land, slaying the living and spreading weaponized mummy rot. With the fall of the clan system the few native tribes remaining entering a prolonged period of isolation to their new nation.   What followed was a period of rebuilding, with old clan and tribal territory now abandoned and undead left to be removed the nation itself would expand out and settle many areas in its interior scourged by war. Wandering heroes and adventurers would take up arms to take on these duties and be rewarded by the state for their job.   Finally a military power the nation would launch the Caelsimil Crusade against Teme-Rasadar- seeking to free their cousins persecuted under Teme-Rasadar. A quagmire of a war would drag on for twnety years before a resolution and unification by the Oracle (titular) Industria Cellini, Zakina Kociak-Falenmir as the United Lands of Caelsimil Teme-Rasadar.
