Rolling Storm Vehicle in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Rolling Storm

The Rolling Storm is a massive, six deck pirate ship created and formerly used by the Liosduin Bhearna military.

Rooms & Locations

Five weather decks sit atop the ship at three different levels. First is the main deck, an area fitted with two siege weapon slots, and some minor storage, mostly used for navigation and working the masts. Towards the rear is the aftpoop deck, which another small aftmast sits atop. Finally, a stairway from here leads to the Steer Deck, which acts as the navigation head and where the wheel sits.   Two forepoop decks sit near the front, one acts as a small balcony for the rooms in the upper level of the forcastle and supporting the third mast, the other a scouting position leading towards the ram.   The quarterdeck is the base of the aftcastle. It houses the officers of the ship with eight rooms and a large kitchen and pantry used to store both food and the main alcohol stores. In the upper section is the Office, the main area meeting area for the officers of the ship.   Deck 01 still sits above the water line, there are the first barracks- which houses up to fifty sailors in bunk beds, this room also has gun ports to fit canons or other siege weapons at other ships. The other half of the deck is the cafeteria, a large seating area and semiplay area used in the pirate's off time for all sorts of activities.   Deck 02 has the second barracks, this one fitted with hammocks. Rather than gunports, this deck instead has benches to row the ship using muscle. At both ends of deck 02 are the armory, in the aft, and the medical rooms in the fore.   Steerage is the final real deck, mostly used for storage similar to the Hold, though this floor also has accommodations for animals and a jail previously used for slaves retrofitted to serve as a brig.

Weapons & Armament

28 large siege engine slots in banks of 14 positioned on the port and starboard sides of the ship, a hug siege engine takes 2 slots. The siege engines may only fire out the sides of the ship that they are positioned on. They cannot be swiveled to fire toward the forward or aft sides of the ship. The weapons cannot be used if the ship is being moved with muscle and has less than 80 crew.
Additionally, one castle sits on both the port and starboard sides, capable of accommodating up to a single large or huge direct fire siege engine, they can fire either out the sides of the ship or in the direction of its location. An amidships platform can fire out either the port or starboard sides of the galley.

Armor and defense

While the core hull is made of traditional wood, the outside of the ship is plated iron.
