Personal history
Esmeralda is an ambitious and intelligent pirate queen. Whatever she wants, she gets, and anyone who gets in her way is dealt with harshly. She and Huey met while playing cards in a back-alley casino. His cocky attitude was maddening and every snarky comment he shot her way when he won left her feeling heated. After he collected his well-earned gold, she offered him a deal. She'd give him something much more enticing for that gold. If he spent the night with her and found himself disappointed, he could keep the gold as well as the valuable jewelry on her person.
Huey took her up on the offer and Esmeralda had the victory she needed in order to feed her ego. The two kept in touch, causing tension between him and Giorgione because he was starting to question Huey's loyalty to the crew. While both crews operated in different regions for the most part, Huey couldn't stop himself from seeing her every time they pulled into Serengeti. She was far more interesting than anything else and for that, Huey had to have her.
Pissed off, Giorgione gave Huey an ultimatum. He could keep playing games with a vampire that would leave him to die at the first chance she got or he could prove his loyalty to the crew of Emerald Stalker and have the opportunity to go somewhere with his life. One night, several of Esmeralda's ships were destroyed at the docks. Their treasures either burned with them or were stolen. It was more than obvious who the culprits were as the Emerald Stalker was gone. It takes a lot to upset her though and while this was more than an inconvenience, she wasn't worried about retaliation. Time would have their paths crossing again someday.
Esmeralda has a fleet of ships at her command, the main ship being the Lady of the Night. Her ship is home to the band of killers known as the Ebony Devils.
