Children of Ichthys

The Children of Ichthys are organized around the Church of Ichthys managed by the Juan Morterero. They are installed in the south of Boulogne-Billancourt, below the avenue Edouard Vaillant and the avenue of the general Leclerc. Their culture is inspired by that of the Roman Empire with similar dress codes and traditional arts.   The children of Ichthys have a bad reputation in Boulogne-Billancourt because many are members of the Hand of Ichthys, a gang known for its violence. However, they have a very good reputation in Paris intramuros thanks to the sale of their handmade fabrics which are extremely expensive.

Roman Heritage

Art & Craftmanship

The children of Ichthys have taken over the handicraft techniques of the Romans which are described in various treatises on art dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. The pottery and sculture techniques are used for artistic and decorative purposes and the weaving techniques are used to weave the different ceremonial clothes: "toga", "tunica", "stola". Some weavers from Ichthys have made a fortune by exporting these artisanal fabrics which are sold in Paris and abroad, the price of an artisanal "toga" is between 1 500 € and 20 000 €, depending on the weaver.

Dress Code

The children of Ichthys use the traditional clothes only during the great events and religious ceremonies. There are different clothes that are reserved for different people:
  • Toga: Woolen clothing intended for wise people (high religious representative, head of families, etc.). They differ in colors and patterns to distinguish the different positions.
  • Stola: Woolen dress designed for women. There are no rules about colors and patterns.
  • Tunica: Woolen tunic designed for men and children. There are no rules about colors and patterns.

Language & Dialect

The children of Ichthys are native french speakers and learn Latin (written and spoken) from an early age. They use many Latin interjections in the family and professional settings. All speeches and religious ceremonies are conducted in Latin.
