Black Woods Village is one of the more primitive cultures amongst the Vin, and for good reason. The Eth, who had been farming the village for food, have made every effort to keep them primitive.
Speaker, gatherers, watchers
Ultimately, all decisions are made by a shaman called the Speaker, who interprets the will of the gods.
Most women gather edible plants or raise children. Black Woods doesn't eat meat, so men work, be it building, scavenging from dead animals, or a great many other things. They trade for whatever they can't find with various plants, including Kinyi leaves, and a narcotic they call Joygrass.

Black Woods Village has been around for an exceptionally long time, and has had a roughly day-in-day-out existence. Some time in the past, the Eth started showing up every thousand years and taking several Vin for food.
