New Arbroath
The town was originally a nuclear test site. A full town with stadium was built and the a bomb was dropped right on the stadium leaving a massive crater. A repatriation fund obtained from the US government was ring fenced to enable full reconstruction of the site into a functional town.
Prior to the US taking over the land region they named Area 69, a local Taino population had a village on the Scrubland for as long local history goes. The area would dry up in the hot summers and be prone to catch fire leaving a Smokey atmosphere in the area. The Americans needed a test site and were able to acquire from the governor of Ilsa Sinora the land required as long as they used secret service personnel to drug the local population and ship and relocate their village to a similar part of the island out of harm's way. After the successful relocation which took place during a local holiday festival of the sacred mushroom where traditionally days were lost to the villagers who would endeavour to seek out their spirit guides using the local fungus known for its magical properties the area was fenced off. The American administration at the time was having severe doubts about the direction the British government were going and were expecting them return to their imperialistic ways via Communism (The paranoia of The Americans at that time was that everyone that disagreed with them was a communist). It was known the British Government had set up a secret underground bunker in the east coast of Scotland that could house the entire government operation if they had to go into hiding during an attack/invasion. Only the Americans knew that it was set up underneath the Royal Burgh of Arbroath. Hoping the British would be keeping an eye on the American nuclear weapon testing they set up a nuclear test site by building a Hollywood movie style set recreation of Arbroath with an Underground bunker included so they could send a veiled threat to the UK showing their capabilities should they decide to become an enemy of the country in the future. The UK eventually fell into line with their American cousins by aligning their atomic weapons systems. The Americans decided to use the site as an underground test site. Due to a miscalculation the detonation was of a greater force than desired the shock waves created the great tsunami of 69 which caused repercussion on all of the Paradisian islands which many believe led to the chain reaction of events that ended with El Presidente taking full control of the islands a few decades later.
The entire town/set was wiped out and just a massive crater remained. The embarrassed Americans promised to leave the islands and set up a repatriation fund bursary to Help build back better in the region and pay for the expensive decontamination costs to be incurred over the many decades. The local government joined forces with the surrounding area indigenous population and environmentalists from all over the world to help with the recovery process. It was decided to use Arbroath as the template as the Americans has extensive designs left behind from the original build.
