Yafyire Xuric
Xuric Shaman (a.k.a. Svant Navik Arytiss,” or “Sky Spirit Warrior”)
Born to her father Sabroth and mother Nariel of the Xuric Clan, Yafyire lived a typical childhood within Naktar Di Darastrixi (Nakta), the Draconic city. Hatchlings were expected to learn their clans trade rather quickly, and it was expected that Yafyire would join the Draconic Fleet, when reaching maturity. However, during her upbringing, it was quickly revealed, she had a tendency toward anger flare-ups that were unbecoming of a Draconic Knight, and instead was brought before the Scavengers. She would briefly serve under Tazicar Xuric, who recently taken command of the clan’s Scavenger Airship.
Unexpectedly, Yafyire showed more than adequate prowess in combat against the Aracockran threat as she grew and mentored under Tazicar. After sometime abilities started to manifest as Yafyire discovered she possessed a link with her past ancestors, a trait common with Shamans. At times she was plagued with voices that were a struggle for a mere warrior to make sense of and others she would channel this power into her fighting style. Through repeated unusual ancestral occurrences, the Xuric Scavengers would later nickname her “Svant Navik Arytiss,” or “Sky Spirit Warrior.”
Noticing her potential, Tazicar recommended Yafyire be trained by the current clan shaman, Caluroth, to act as his successor. Though he was reluctant at first to take someone who did not hold a prestigious rank, after witnessing Yafyire’s gift, he agreed to take her under his guidance. During her apprenticeship, Yafyire fell in love with a dragonborn named Rhomash. Their relationship was mostly platonic at first, as it was not permitted for a Shaman to participate in acts of breeding during training as it was believed it could distract from obtaining enlightenment.
Later, after Caluroth’s age finally caught up with him, Yafyire would ascend to official Shaman of the Xuric clan. She was to be tasked with keeping record and tradition of ancestors alive, through constant meditation, study, and reflectance with her ancestral connection. These spirits would often give Shaman’s visions, that showed brief glimpses of the past, or at the very least give an inner understanding of a desired focus. Occasionally, a shaman would be given a premonition of the future, but it was speculative at best, a potential prediction based on collected knowledge, not true foresight.
In her recent years as Shaman, Yafyire would finally commit herself to bringing up a child of her own, with her companion Rhomash. Shaman’s were revered and respected, similar to a form of nobility within Dragonborn society. They were given leeway to act as they saw fit, only answering to the leader of their clan. She hatched a son, named Sazire.
At the time the keybearers visited Naktar, Yafyire was on a vision quest away from the city. Upon return, she learned of the foreigner’s actions and the victory in the Aarakocra War. One fateful night, while checking in on her son’s training, Yafyire was overcome by a vision, not of the past, not of the future, but of the present. This was something that had never happened before. She saw an intricate looking man, too short to be a human, but too tall to be a dwarf, standing before a group of people bearing a key symbol. They all stood in a void outside of the flow of time. There she heard a word repeated over and over during intense conversation, “Paradise….. Paradise…. Paradise.” Her ancestors beckoned to her, calling her to a place with small creatures who called themselves ‘gnomes.” Shortly after the vision, she knew what she must do. She must meet this group of people, in a place known as the ‘Rising Highlands.’
