Soul Honey

Soul honey is an important ingredient in many potions. It is a powerful binder, a substance used in potions to help the other ingredients mix together properly. Binders can also be used as bases, the basic substance that other potion ingredients are added to. Having fairly high amounts of spirit energy means that soul honey is excellent at binding any magical substance.
Soul honey comes from Soul Bees. Unfortunately, no one has successfully domesticated soul bees, nor found a good method of farming ones in the wild. Soul bees are dangerous insects capable of draining spirit energy from other creatures, which they then use to produce soul honey. Their hives are large, curling structures, often wrapping around large trees.
When a hive is breached, the soul bees will flee it, and create a new one elsewhere. This is the primary reason why they can not be farmed. This does, however, make it rather easy to collect the honey, provided one survives their initial agitation.
The best technique to acquire soul honey is to damage the hive from afar, traditionally with a bow. After this, the technique varies. Some will attempt to hide from the bees, though this rarely succeeds due to their keen sense of spirit detection. The best technique is to distract the soul bees with another person, or to be more humane and run away.
Once the bees have fled, the soul honey is very easy to take, though this must be done quickly. If left for too long, soul honey condenses, and becomes useless. The way to prevent this is to bottle it with a small amount of water mixed in to keep it from doing so.
