The Dragon Chalice

"... and to the Elves, Boki bade them drink from the Dragon Chalice. Each elf drank and was rewarded with magic that now ran in their veins. It was a magic they would then pass down to each of their children, and their children's children going on and on into perpetuity."
Fawkes Fairchild sat up straight on his stool and stretched.   Reading at his small desk was never comfortable.   Rubbing his eyes, he carefully closed the holy book and turned down the lantern. It was late and he needed to get some sleep.   He pulled off his boots then stood up to move the step and a half to his bed, which he then flopped onto.   All this craze to find the Dragon Chalice from one little bit of scripture, he huffed to himself as he got comfortable.
Since the loss of all the world's portals forced everyone to find other means to travel about the world, people have been desperately looking into everything they had never bothered to care about in the past.   Idiots. Boki was the goddess of secrets.   There are always things missing from the scriptures, especially those involving Her.   He closed his eyes and his thoughts started to drift down into sleep. He would not want to be the first fool to find the Dragon Chalice and drink from it.

What is the Dragon Chalice?

According to the scriptures, the Dragon Chalice is the magical chalice Boki used to give elves sorcery, the condition of being born with magic.   This ability is then passed down from parent to child without fail. How well an elf uses their magic is a matter of training, not inheritance.   Elves without sorcery can trace their heritage to ancestors who were not amongst those listed as being given a drink from the chalice. They strive to marry into a sorcerous family.   Amongst those accounts and records from that time, which was five thousand years ago, no record exists that portrays what the Dragon Chalice looks like.No account describes the chalice, other than to say so-and-so drank from it.   For the longest time, this was just a curious fact. Now, with the loss of the Gateways, a series of portals that transported people anywhere in the world, this fact has become a mystery.   Why has no one written about is wonderous and grand appearance? Why would it be a secret?

Where is the Dragon Chalice?

According to the Scriptures and accounts, Boki had led the elves into the lair of Chilland'thar, the god of winter.   There, in a treasure room, she let them drink from the chalice then led them back out into the world, leaving the chalice behind.   Other, more obscure, scriptures hint that the chalice eventually left Chilland'thar's lair in another godly escapade.   Who and what was involved in it only vaguely mentions one strange name: MoorDoon.
This has led to the hunting for the mysterious MoorDoon which, oddly, has led to clashes with nisslings.   Nisslings maybe small lizard-like creatures, but they use poisoned crossbow bolts as religiously as knight use swords, making them very deadly.   They can also fly with leathery wings and see so well in the dark they can use their crossbows as though it were daytime.   Nisslings have brought the end to many hunts for the chalice.
Will the Dragon Chalice ever be found? WIll its secrets be revealed? Only the gods can answer that ... maybe.
