Scionto
In many countries, scionto milk and meat is used as food by humans. These bovine lesser beasts are kept as livestock and used as draft and riding animals. Their leather is both durable and flexible, it is used to produce a wide range of goods including clothing and bags. They can work harder, longer, and faster than other beasts of burden. They are much preferred to the common domestic cow.
They also require more food, and of a higher vita content, than other livestock. As a result of their diet their milk and meat are highly potent. They produce twice as much milk as common cows.

Genetics and Reproduction
Sexual maturity occurs in the second or third year. Breeding takes place year-round, but typically peaks between winter and summer solstice. Females normally have one calf after a gestation period of about 275 days, a few days less than domestic cattle. Calves are typically weaned after seven to twelve months.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The scionto grazes and browses mostly the upper portions of plants, such as leaf blades, stems, seeds and flowers of grass species, with a strong preference for leaves. Especially plants with higher vita content. During the summers they feed on tree bark and fruit as well. They spend most of their daily time feeding. Peak feeding activity is at sunrise and sunset. They rest in the shade of big trees during the hottest hours of the day.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Their bones, vellum, and milk are used to make patches. The Ban Fellowship keep a domesticated herd to supply them with all manner of goods. Products from the scionto are best suited for use in enchanting, they retain the stitching of vita threads better.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Can be found across Esborea, mostly from where they originated in Renscroprec. They've been exported across Opreunox in recent generations.

These beasts have an extrasensory ability to perceive vita around them, and the creatures producing it. They can feel the vita as it passes by them.

Average Physique
Tall with a muscular physique, the females are generally leaner and 3/4 the size of males. They have broad shoulders and great girth.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Dark red hair covers their bodies, with white at the base of the legs and snout. As they get older the red turns to a deep brown, nearly black. They have light green fur at the mouth and nostrils, with a green line going up its snout to its lavender eyes, where it branches and follows the brow ridge. Their hooves are a dull amber, and the males have horns of the same color.
