Dragonborn

Bearing the traits of mythical metallic or chromatic dragons, Dragonborn are a relatively common sight in Amaranth. Given their natural strengths, several Houses exist devoted to the Dragonborn arts of war, and the list of Dragonborn champions, both living and dead, is extensive. Whilst it is claimed they derive their power as the descendents of Dragons, no true Dragons have been sighted in living memory (and recorded historic accounts grow increasingly anachronistic thus few Dragonborn put much faith in these connections - Instead relying on the traditions of their individual Houses.

Origins

Dragonborn texts (many of which survived the burning of the The Grand Library due to the Houses' focus on preserving their own history and deeds), detail that the Dragonborn once had great holdings far to the north of Amaranth, where they built fortified cities high in the mountains, and held them against the Serpentfolk. But a terrible affliction began to plague their people, for which they could find no cure. And so, great parties of Dragonborn roamed far and wide, seeking stranger things that might cure their species of this wasting disease. A few, lead by a Dragonborn called Ancala, trekked south across the desert to Amaranth, and there, with Tethys' blessing, bathed in the waters of the Amar, restoring their scales are curing them of the sickness. And so it was, that all the Dragonborn who could, travelled to Amaranth, and bathed in it's waters. And here they stayed.
