Palomina

The continent of Palomina is split into five regions controlled by five separate governments.   To the north lies Keeto, a land of snow capped mountains, icy tundra blanketing deep seas of oil, thick pine forests, and fish-filled lakes streaming off the cliffs of the capital, the waterfall city of Mondovi. Keeto is the most advance populace and the central power in Palomina.   To the southwest lies Evo; the agricultural hub of the region. Miles upon miles of orchards and fields and vineyards sweep across the lands. Massive herds and flocks of livestock dine upon oceans of green grass. The finest timber grows tall in their northern woods. Evo is the nurturing mother of the lands, and while her strength is dwarfed by the military might of Keeto, her pockets are always full as everyone has mouths to feed.   To the southeast, Talonia hides behind the massive range of blue sand dunes that separate her people and lands from the rest of Palomina. Talonia is a checkerboard of tiny states and kingdoms and dens as the old government was swept away by the warm desert winds long ago. The ancient mountains bear dry pines and nut trees and small ponds and streams to spoil and protect its inhabitants from the awful sandy wastes beyond. Crime lords find Talonia ideal for its lack of laws and authority and prosperous in their pursuits of wealth and power throughout the lands.   To the far south, the kingdom of Karmona holds the sea and the green, green mountains that shelter her from the rest of the continents affairs... when the Karanites want them to. The Karanites are a warrior people left over from the old days who find the spoils of war far more prosperous than toiling in the fields and shorelines of home. But, war is costly, and decades of conquest have left the Karanites with much to hold onto, and little to hold it up with. Their land is rich in timber, farmland, and sea fare, and their industry is booming, as their focus turns inward than out. The conservatives and progressives fight over the direction of their people, and the outcome of this civil strife could determine the course of the Karanites, and Palomina, forever.   To the far west lies Manzeca, a dry land of rocky mountain peaks plump with ore and other valuable minerals. The people have been blessed with pockets of oil here and there but their reliance on the Keetan economy to hold them up is waning, as years of corruption have left the Manzecans untrustworthy and unreliable. With inflation soaring, their economy crumbling, and their poor and hungry citizens taking note, the Manzecans may look the resource-rich lands of Evo, and beyond, to save themselves.
